And thank you mariaj91 for that input, one of the few actual chances ;) But yes, according to my counselor, I should have absolutely no problem with Rutgers.

I've never actually done any competitions, just more for my own enjoyment. However, I do spend around 1-2 hours every 2 weeks or so taking pictures and then I develop them myself.

Still haven't really gotten any chances minus that most are reaches....

are you by any chance from NVOT/NVD?

i just looked into UNC-Chapel Hill on collegeboard.com...and it seems as a good fit for you...deff apply:]

How does he not have outstanding EC's?? Hes been playing the piano for 12 years!! geez!!

Other than music, I really don't have much, I think that's the point people are making. However, I am trying to emphasize my passion for music in my essays, lol.

And mariaj91, the only ting with UNC is that I'd be applying OOS, so my stats would need to be higher than the ones listed on the Collegeboard website. I've even read that most people applying OOS have a better chance at Duke than UNC, not sure how much truth that holds though. Although I suppose being an Asian male might help a bit more at UNC.

Not sure what NVOT/NVD is, so I can't really give an answer to that question.

to satscholar just playing piano for 12 years doesn't mean much
What if a person said they played soccer for 12 years. It is not that big of an EC

And yes, Ec10 is correct to, considering the fact that it is a fairly common EC. Plus the fact that I don't do competitions. I only play for 8-10 hrs a week anyways, so it's nothing THAT amazing, but it's better than nothing and I guess it at least shows commitment and dedication.

bump (10 char)

If you're talking about B's and C's , then I'm assuming your UW gpa is around 3.5 at best, which is definitely not good. Your AP scores aren't good either. If I were you, I'd just not send in anything from CB, only ACT.

U of Chicago (EA) - deferred/rejected (only way you could accepted if your essay + recs are AMAZING.)
NYU (Stern)- 40%
USC -50%
BU- match
Brown- rejected
Rutgers- accepted
UC Berkeley- rejected
UCLA- rejected
UCSD- accepted
Stanford- rejected
Columbia-rejected
Georgetown- reach
UMich-slight reach
UNC-Chapel Hill- rejected

Ok, well I used on online GPA calculator to find my UW GPAs for academic classes only, and this is what they are:

9: 3.68
10: 2.94
11: 3.42
12 (1st quarter): 3.78

So yeah, that's UW, almost all my classes have been honors or AP (Depending on what the hardest offered were). So if that helps at all, those are my GPA. (and it's been only 1 C, which was a C+, mainly B to A-)

And thank you for your help CNI. You actually covered the most about my top 3 (Chicago, NYU, and USC).
