BUMP for good luck

If you are Indian, Wantobeabrownie, then I would suggest you listen to your parents and not people on this forum. Most Indians I know are very successful. So are their kids. The parents take a big interest in the future careers of their kids, because they want them to have a good life. They are also not naive about money, and value it.

What are you talking about? In general the people on this thread are just trying to give the OP factual information about programs and courses of study, not making recommendations or value judgements. I don’t know if the people are right on the facts, but I assume that’s something the OP could verify online.

It’s like somebody comes on and asks if Rutgers has an aeronautical engineering program and somebody from Rutgers answers “yes”, and then you tell the OP to disregard and ask his parents.

The OP as far as I recall didn’t even mention the parents so how do you know whether they have even a clue about what the OP is questioning? The OP states he/she is an international student so there’s a very good chance that the parents know next to nothing about particular colleges or programs in the USA. Have you ever been to India (we don’t know whether the OP is Indian or not) and if so would you consider most of the population of that country ‘successful’ in this context? I think there are plenty of Indians who haven’t attended college or who haven’t been to this country and know little about the details the OP is questioning. There’s nothing in the OP’s posts that indicate he/she’s defying the parents.

Bovertine’s right - the OP asked particular questions and I and others have tried to answer those specific objective questions.
