Career Dilema & just graduated from MSc Accounting

Hi there,

I just graduated with a Masters of Science in Accounting from a well known public school in New York City. GPA 3.4.

My undergrad degree was in finance. Graduated in 2008.

Currently I work for the government and am being trained as an IT Auditor.
I have the option to go back to Financial (including investments) and Compliance Auditing if I do not like doing IT Audits.

My college friend suggests I go to lawschool and get an LLM and do tax. I could get the LLM but I don't want to just collect diplomas unless I work in tax.

I am at the point where I need to decide if I should pursue the CISA, CPA or the CFA license!!!

Not sure which move would give me the best marketability.

I also am considering if I should switch into the private sector rather than staying in the gov't.

Can you please tell me what option is best for me?

Thanks.

There is no best option…do what interests you. See how you like IT auditing.

But… since you just finished the MAcc, I would sit for the CPA ASAP if that interests you. The CISA exam is pretty easy, you can do that later with some self study at home. CPA is a very useful credential for all types of jobs.

Sounds good. But how long would you give IT Audit a try for? Is 1 year long enough?
