<p>I'm looking to get a double major in Cognitive Science and Neuroscience then go to med school. I'd like to study learning and language acquisition, specifically the differences in autistic children.<br>
Aside from pharmaceutical companies and universities, what type of employment opportunities are there in the research field?
Also, is it possible to contract with a research company before medical school and have them fund your education?
If anyone can give me any information remotely helpful to my area of interest, I'd really appreciate it!</p>

<p>1.) You could also work for nonprofit research institutions. Private ones are more rare; Children's Hospital Oakland has one where I spent my summers. Public ones would include the CDC, FDA, NIH, etc.</p>
<p>2.) I've never heard of this. Not to say it doesn't happen, but ... well, I've never heard of it.</p>
