I love studying French and I’m considering going for a BA in French, but I’ve been getting really stressed lately about post-college plans. What are some good options to put a language degree to use? Translation and teaching are the main things that come to mind for me, but I’m sure there’s plenty of other things.
Don’t fret. A degree is just a license to think. Languages look impressive on resumes because the world is global. I do languages as an avocation & it was my most used asset in my job in the govt. where I had to occasionally translate documents & interpret for other staff. Private jobs are available in translation & interpretation.
Just like @CORDIE said, government work will definitely be open to you. My father wanted me to learn quite a few languages so that I could have the option of possibly working for the government with him post-graduation (bachelor’s).
So I even consider that as an option after learning the languages I’m learning in college. You can also end up being an Au Pair if you wanted. You can also end up doing international government work.
