I guess when I think about majors and colleges, I also think about the longer run of careers. And because of careers, I'm having a hard time deciding a major. I've been debating back and forth with myself about chemical engineering, computer science and stats.

But what are your guys' opinions about which areas of careers would have better opportunities out there in the future.

btw I hear that people who work with computers get stressed out and they end up wearing thick glasses while their bodies turn white and shrivle up down to bone and fat.

Biotechnology is a huge upcoming field, especially with the recent advances in genetics. It's the computer industry boom of the 21st century. Biomedical and chemical engineering and biology majors would adapt well with this sector.

Well, choose one that you really like, after taking a few internships. For example you might think banking is a pretty hot job, but I am currently interning at Barclays, and I HATE it. There are some jobs that just dont suit some people. Get a few internships, and see what suits you, or you'll just become an office zombie as I have now. :P

You probably want to not base your career decisions on idiotic stereotypes, for starters.

I work with computers. Most of my friends work with computers. Many of us are athletes (in sports including running, cycling, jiu jitsu, tae kwon do, weightlifting, and rugby, among others). Most of us (not me) do wear glasses or contacts, but most of those glasses are attractive-looking and not abnormally thick. The overwhelming majority of us are considerably less stressed out than we were as undergrads. :)

I think you pretty stick to engineering huh ? well I don't think you should fear about the fact that computers will make you obese or skinny. choose a major you like and step by step you will discover what you need to do next. there are myriad cases in which people don't work at their majors at colleges. My English teacher (foreign language cuz he's Asian) used to be a PhD in literature. how crazy is it huh :)
