I'm applying to one of these schools (yes I know they are major reaches I have almost no chance of getting into), but is Carleton easier than Haveford? Also, does being from NJ give me small advantage at Carleton?

No and no.

Dude you’re so smart. So much insight.

Well, checking their respective Common Data Sets, Carleton acceptance rate last year was about 21% and H’ford’s was about 22%. Both schools have about identical test score ranges. Haverford does consider demonstrated interest from applicants, Carleton says it does not. Being another kid from NJ is not new at Hford, however, it is also no longer a distinguishing factor for Carleton – gone are the days when heading to MN for college was a novelty for east coast kids.

I would think that any applicant who has not visited (especially someone from NJ when it comes to Hford) is not in a position to distinguish themselves as a good fit for the small college community being crafted.
