Carnegie Mellon 2011 RD Decisions

!! ... okay, when I try to log in to the "Where am I in the process?" page, it says "The application you are attempting to access is not currently available.
Please try again later."
:( what does that mean?

1) i heard the online takes 3 days from the time you get your admitted packet (yes its a big FAT envelope) to update it
2) how did you get into both cit and mcs?

you had the option to rank your choices in order on the commonapp supplement to CMU. they consider you separately (like i think they give ur app to each separate department?) so you can get rejected to one and accepted to another. or accepted to both. or if you're outta luck, rejected to both. actually i think u can apply to as many as u want. mm yeah, thats how it works :)

did anyone apply to the school of computer science, i hear that program is extremely competitive.

I did. :D

well idk then, i asked to get in CIT with MCS as my 2nd choice. in my essay i really stressed CIT though, and the letter said NOTHING about MCS....

ah honestly i dont care. i dont really wanna be in MCS anyway.

ahhhhhhh i really wonder if mail is gonna come in today...... what time is mail usually delivered? ---- idk because im usually in school this time of the day........

by the way, i live in erie, pennsylvania

I got into CIT, wait-listed for SCS. (Though, SCS was my first choice) What do you think the odds are for getting in off the wait-list or transferring once admitted? Is it possible to transfer between colleges at all?

what are you stats? everyone who got in?

In general, it's pretty easy to transfer into CS if you've taken 15-211 (third semester class) and you get an A in it. If you want more information, PM me.

Accepted to SCS!!!! And MCS, but SCS was my goal, so yay.

Now I just have to wait for money so I can decide between CMU and Cornell.... hmmm... looking like Cornell unless I get a scholarship from CMU or something.

Nothing today in MI.

I got the letter today! Got accepted to HSS, MCS, and Tepper. I live in NYC.

didn't get anything...in massachusetts

Did anybody get the letter who live abroad? I am anxious to see the decision that is flying to my mailbox.

Nothing today. I live about an hour away from NYC.

Congratulations to you and all the talented applicants who got into SCS ! Of course, money is a big concern and I hope CMU can offer you and your family a competitive package. Money aside though, keep in mind SCS is one of the top 3 CS schools in the US and a magnet for employers like Google, Microsoft, etc. If you really like CS, I wouldn't miss the opportunity to go to CMU unless I had alternatives like MIT for example. In fact, a SCS degree is even worth going into debt to afford it. That's just my personal opinion though and you'll obviously have to consider that carefully with your parents or legal guardians.

BTW, I didn't apply to SCS myself as I've always been more into engineering than CS. I graduated from CIT (ECE), which is pretty good too , but not quite as prestigious in relative terms as SCS.

Accepted to SCS, CIT. Wooo... let's see about the money.

Accepted!!! -Texas
