I applied ED I for ECE in CIT and CS in SCS.

only some people got it on the 12th?..some as in half? :D

I applied to mcs from Colorado! Can’t wIt

i thought they only considered first choice for ed1 o-O
and i’m not sure haha :3 ahhh i’m starting to get really nervous. this is NOT healthy x-x

Well, they both show up on “where I am in the process page”.

really? :o oh wow i didn’t know you could’ve done that. i wouldve applied to tepper otherwise.

Less than a week until decisions!!! So nervous.

i knowww @-@.PROGRAMMERGUY I NEED TO KNOW WHO YOU ARE. :p.

Oh, snapz… That awkward moment… I did the supplement wrong.

The prompt was:

Please submit a one-page, single-spaced essay that explains why you have chosen Carnegie Mellon and your particular major(s), department(s) or program(s). This essay should include the reasons why you’ve chosen the major(s), any goals or relevant work plans and any other information you would like us to know. If you are applying to more than one college or program, please mention each college or program you are applying to. Because our admission committees review applicants by college and programs, your essay can impact our final decision. Please do not exceed one page for this essay.

I literally put a list of schools I was applying to (other than CMU). I feel like a total idiot.

O___O that’s not good. at all. o-o; maybe… you should… ask them about it? Oo

So you basically read “If you are applying to more than one college or program, please mention each college or program you are applying to” but nothing before or after :p. How could you skip over the first sentence? haha

I wrote the “Please submit a one-page, single-spaced essay that explains why you have chosen Carnegie Mellon and your particular major(s), department(s) or program(s). This essay should include the reasons why you’ve chosen the major(s), any goals or relevant work plans and any other information you would like us to know.”

part of the prompt, but that took only half a page because I had a quite a long list of schools… Darn it, I am a month late to realize that. Plus only 9 more days. They already made a decision on my application.

edit: the mix up was mostly due to the fact that I wrote the supplement during summer and had not realized the context of the statement.

well that’s not as bad as I thought it was… at least you have half a page pertaining to the prompt.

They only consider first choice for ED. I was told to put both in an essay and/or on your application just in case you are deferred to regular admission. So I put two as well!

well hopefully, I wont get deferred…

I’ll be applying next year. If I plan on sending in my first semester senior year grades (which I get in January), would applying ED be too early to have the grades considered? I’ve decided that CMU is my first choice! :)

@explodingtoenail

ED I results come out in December, so January would be too late.

Will there be like a line on the “Where am I in the process?” when the letters are sent out?

So should I apply RD and mention in the essay that CMU is my first choice, but I wanted to make sure that they saw my 7th semester grades?

FLOCKSON

The box at the top of the WAITP page shows the school(s) an ED or RD student applied to.
When your decision is posted online (3 days after mailing), the box is populated with accept, defer or reject.

The letters for ED or RD are all released on one day (a few exceptions of lingering letters). The school then makes it a point of waiting 3 days to announce decisions online. As you’ll see over the past several years-- you should NOT infer anything from the absence of a posting or the type of entries in WAITP. There is zero correlation between the info. on WAITP and the actual decision which is made. So do not WORRY one way or the other.

ALSO VERY VERY VERY VERY important as I posted the past few years here on CC, ED’ers please don’t be afraid to open a thin postal letter! EDers - you will get one letter - a thin envelope which has either an accept or reject letter inside. The fat package of information comes in a separate envelope in March. You get the fat package a few months later when it’s published for the RD crowd. Your financial estimate (it is an estimate until such time as you file your CSS Profile and FAFSA and submit W2 statements to confirm earnings) will also come under separate cover.

SO ED’ers OPEN THE letter - regardless of its thin size!
