Last year cmu released on 26th march.
It always comes out before ivy day, so I’m guessing around the 25th.
Does anybody else here have a red link to financial aid on their portal? Only to click on it and say that they haven’t finished deciding financial aid yet?
@gershwinfan i have that
I have it 2
I saw on some master list of decision dates that they were coming out on the 24th.
I’m really unsure about my decision for CMU. I only submitted one SAT II and it was pretty mediocre, but I have a major hook, so I’m not sure whether they will accept or deny me especially when my other test scores are above average and took all APs and great ECs…who knows.
Same here @amwarren , but you never know, you might have that combination they’re looking for! Best of luck
My S got an email today telling him he is waitlisted in the School of Music. However they indicated the official decision from the school will be coming later. No indication of when that might be. He also applied to the college of science.
@gershwinfan thanks! you as well! I’ve been interested in CMU ever since I went there at, like, age 10 for the 50th dedication of the Mudge House (hence the familial hook thing), so it would be really awesome to go there. ALSO!!! I loooove your username!
@amwarren That’s really sweet! I always love stories like that I didn’t visit the campus until about a year ago, but I loved it when I went. And thank you so much, he’s my favorite composer!
Also, from what I heard from current students at CMU and professors I met at CMU after I did a portfolio review with them (Arch Applicant), CMU only looks for reasons to accept you rather than reasons to reject you.
Also, at least for Arch Applicants, I got some insight on how they select applicants through a current Arch student. The Office of Admissions (OA) and the School of Arch (SOA) each decide who gets in, based on Stats for the OA and the portfolio & essays for SOA. The SOA & OA then get together, and decide who gets in the program. If the OA & the SOA agree on the same applicant, the applicant is accepted. If the SOA wants an applicant, but the OA doesn’t want the student, the chances are roughly 60%-70% to get in. However, if the OA wants an applicant and the SOA does not want the applicant, then the applicant is rejected.
Quick question: does CMU mail out rejection letters or only acceptances/waitlist notifications ? Thanks,
@sbg838 they do mail out rejection letters, in a small envelope
also applied to arch, not sure if my portfolio is good enough…
One more week! I am salivatingggg
@math3matical how do you know? did they release an official date?
Hey guys! Really nervous…
I have 1450 on the new sat, 800 math 2, 790 physics. I live in India, but I am a US citizen. My school doesn’t post a GPA. What’re my chances? I’m trying for SCS.
Thanks.
Wait what? Coming in a week? So admission decision will be available on friday??
That is what I heard somewhere else, but that MAY be a rumor. I heard it from two people on different forums.
