@InfiniteLibrary

Whoops, that does not work either. Hmm. Okay. Just google “Reddit college notification dates” and it will lead you to the google doc! Sorry about the spam.

@math3matical Alright thank you! That helps a lot :slight_smile:

March 24 is so close!!!

not to freak anyone out but cmu’s 2016 acceptance rate is 10% less than 2015 omg… 24% to 13.7%

@artfarts I saw that on google as well, and I’m almost 100% certain that the 13.7% statistic is incorrect. There’s no way that its acceptance rate dropped 10% in one year. I’m thinking that the 13.7% acceptance rate is one of the individual college’s acceptance rates, like engineering or CS or something (not sure if those are housed under the same college or not). It definitely isn’t last year’s overall acceptance rate.

does cmu usually release a decision date, or do decisions just come out randomly one day?

hey can one of you guys private message me?

@artfarts @bssurly That number is incorrect. As per the 2016-2017 CDS, there were 21,189 applications and 4,601 admitted. The admissions rate for 2016 is approximately 22%.

@bssurly Current CMU student here. In recent years Carnegie has released decisions on the last Saturday of March. Depending on the size of the application pool, that date may be later, which is why you may have heard that the Office of Admissions will release decisions “by April 15th” – it’s a safeguard date for them just in case. In any case, if this year’s situation is similar to recent years, you will receive an email a couple days before admissions are released. You can also monitor the Office of Admissions’ Twitter + Instagram if you’re itching for information. They usually post some teasers near decision release.

I read a few references above to SAT subject tests. My understanding was that these were NOT required if you submitted ACT instead. Can anyone confirm?

Hi I know it’s pretty late now, but the college choice section of my applicant portal only shows the first one of my choices. (i.e. I applied to both Mechanical and Materials Engineering, but the portal only shows my first preference mechanical) previously I was thinking that since both are in CIT they probably won’t consider me for materials if they reject me for mechanical, but now that release date is coming up I am getting more worried. Does it make sense for me to call them on Mon? Thanks!!

Hi. could you check ‘Financial Aid Documents Needed’ on your account? mine has changed. added ‘Attestations Received 17-mar-2017’. what about you?

@rfjskzdmfl mine has that too. not sure if it means anything as, when looking at the website, it says it’s “required for all students applying for all types of financial aid”

@momof3co I applied to the school of engineering, and I’m pretty sure that we had to send in subject tests regardless of whether we sent ACT or SAT.

Subject tests required for all colleges and schools of entry except for the college of art, which requires a portfolio.

Edit to add: IIRC, the specific requirements are something like Math plus one other. That “other” will depend on which college(s) or school you are applying to. Most will require the “other” to be a science of some kind. Tepper will recommend that the “other” be science, but won’t require it. Deitrich allows you to choose your “other”. None will accept a FL subject test if that is your native language. Everything is spelled out on the admissions page so read it carefully to understand what the requirements are.

Edit again: To be specific, the subject tests are required, period. Regardless of whether you chose SAT Reasoning or ACT. And you are required to submit ALL test scores.

@rfjskzdmfl @doody1425 Financial Aid attestation are a set of statements that you agree to regarding your receiving and acceptance of financial aid. Nothing to worry about – just the Office of Admissions stating they received that document.

has anyone who got accepted ED NOT received their financial aid package yet? i sent all my stuff a bit late and cmu only processed them a month ago but i don’t think it should be taking this long to send me my package…my financial aid notification also says “Your financial aid processing is not yet complete” even though everything required is marked as “Received”
