Based on what I’ve read, everyone placed in the waitlist has the priority option. They just have to choose and sign up for it.
Is the priority waitlist binding? If CMU isn’t my first choice (I’m still debating between CMU and another school), then should I put myself up for priority waitlisting?

I’m honestly surprised that I was waitlisted… thought it would be a straight rejection.
I saw on CMU’s website, about 50 people from priority are accepted each year. Is this per school? Also, approx. how many people are on the priority waitlist from Dietrich or Tepper?
Accepted to Tepper
@figgie13 No, that figure represents the amount accepted off the waitlist within the entire university, and is outdated. Last year there were about 3800 people offered a waitlist position. About 1900 accepted the offer to be placed on it. Seven total were admitted.
The waitlist is also ranked.
Specific numbers on a college-by-college basis isn’t released publicly to students, but you will receive notification as the matriculation deadline approaches whether or not your program is full.

I have a feeling that for the COLLEGE OF SCIENCE all acceptances are going to be recinded. I think they may have made the same mistake they did a few years ago of accepting too many people. Still can’t believe my son got in after seeing all your incredible SAT’s and GPA’s. Amazed!
Accepted to Information Systems!

@yitian9898 If it says you were accepted to ECE then yes you can do any of the CIT majors but if you were accepted as a restricted student (i.e. not accepted to ECE) then you can apply to ECE during major declaration during the spring of your freshman year. However, you are not guaranteed a spot in that program. Whether or not you’re excepted in the spring would depend on how many people apply and how well you do in ECE related classes your freshman year. Other than ECE though everything else in CIT is unrestricted.
Priority waitlist for Dietrich A&S.
31 ACT, 3.75 UW
Also got into The Science and Humanities Scholars Program
Not even wait listed here - so unreal
S Denied. Not unexpected.
Big Contrat’s to all those accepted!!!
Big Hugs to those waitlisted or denied.
ok i’m so confused when i go on the portal and click on the button that says admissions decision letter it just leads me to a blank page… does that mean i got rejected…?
@lumieres123 perhaps try Interenet Explorer or another browser. Not sure otherwise.
How do you know if you were invited to the Science and Humanities Scholars Program? Does it explicitly say that on your acceptance letter?
