Carnegie Mellon Class of 2021 Applicants Discussion Thread

@gymnast11799 Me too!

Anyone know how to check whether im rejected or deferred?

@BLISHnr, It should say in your letter. Sorry to hear you didn’t get in

@Blue1998 It’s ok lol I feel good now. So if my letter doesn’t say anything about my being deferred, basically I’m rejected?

I have not received an email yet, so I am assuming they did not accept me.

Either way, I searched for CMU class of 2021 and found this:

Congrats to those who made it in! B-)

@AmoebaMe There is no email, you need to log into your “where am I in the process” to check it.

@BLISHnr, It shoudl say something about your application being reconsidered for RD. Does anyone know what the acceptance rate was this time around? From looking at past threads and talking around it seems to be lower.

When are the RD decisions coming out?

They say by April 15 but last year RD came out around March 24th.

When do FAT letters get sent out for ED?

Did anyone get deferred from the college of engineering, or was it just accept or reject?

I contacted the administration because I was rejected from SCS for early decision. They said I can reapply to my second and third choice programs, which I believe is how they defer applicants. I’m not really positive about it, but I think CMU doesn’t offer deferred admission for ED applicants

@BLISHnr That’s what I have heard in the past. But why don’t they say that in the rejected letter? Maybe they don’t want many reapplying? Seems strange.

Although I think last year some students did post they were deferred for SCS in the early round.

idk lol. At least I’m happy that I can reapply in RD

@BLISHnr - so glad to learn you are re-applying. ED at CMU is very restrictive and you might have many more options to be admitted through RD. Good luck to you!

Hey everyone! For the CMU essay, did you guys just talk about your first choice major or did you also address your second and third choices?

If you are applying to multiple schools, you must address each one in you essay

Anyone applying for the school of drama design program?

Hey everyone! I just submitted my application and am currently being recruited for track. Does anyone know exactly how much say the coaches have in the decision process?
