Would you have a guess on spots for rising juniors?
And how was your experience last year?

uhmmm. there were about 30 juniors last year…but all together it was a small group.
I absolutely loved it! It was challenging, exciting, and rigorous. if (i mean when =]) you get accepted you will meet COG and know what I’m talking about. We did alot of exciting things last summer and i loved the classes, especially physics and the electronics and biology workshops. Everyone is so nice and accepting, it’s refreshing. There was alot of intellectual diversity and ethnic, too.

so if im applying for AP/EA and my second choice is SAMS, do i have to write an essay for each one? or do i just have to write one?

does anyone know???

I just sent an e-mail asking that, because I was wondering that too.
I’ll tell you the answer as soon as I get a reply. They’re pretty fast…so maybe tomorrow?

my app is being sent out–tomorrow.
crossing my fingers.

pjpolkadotts:
I asked and they said that they want one essay even if you’re applying for two programs.
Hope that helped answer your question.

so you dont have to write separate essays for SAMs and AP/EA?
T_T i wrote another essay for no reason then…damnit

digifreak106: Thanks!

The application materials require that you show your SAT, PSAT, PLAN, and ACT, but I thought that will already be incorporated into the online application. Does anyone know if we have to send our scores or just put it in the online application or both?

^ I believe you have to send both. last year I sent photocopies :)

Okay, so has anybody gotten any sort of confirmation message after sending in the application?

nope, but I emailed the contact address, spewing some spazzy sentences about my worries of my app. materials not having reached their office, and some person replied that my materials had indeed been received! So they’re just lazy.

That’s good to know. So everyone who’s applying has sent out the application already, right?

does anyone know the difference between diversity and pre-college ap/ea? They sound exactly the same, besides the fact that pre-college costs money and diversity has a place for you to put down your parents’ income…

See, this is one of the things that I’m worried about. I don’t know if the income will be taken into consideration. If it is, I’m screwed. However, they don’t ask to confirm the family income in any way, so I don’t know. Otherwise, I think that diversity has a much lower acceptance rate.

does anyone know if CM sends out postcards or something telling you if you’ve turned in everything? i sent my app in late february, but i haven’t heard anything since and I’m getting a bit worried.

My son also applied at the end of February and we haven’t received a confirmation. I believe the web page indicated something would be mailed out, but if you are concerned, I think it would be fine to call and ask if they received everything. Good luck!

I sent mine in late February as well, and Im still waiting for some confirmation. I even sent them an email last week and have gotten no response. I am pretty worried.

Do any of you know how hard it is to get in to diversity AP/EA or SAMS? an acceptance rate maybe? i know the precollege enrolled stats are up online but the diversity stats aren’t. Is it necessary to be urm or have low income?
