Carnegie Mellon Summer Programs for Diversity

@Gesundheit. I totally agree

To anybody waitlisted, I emailed them when we would know if we’re in or not and they said we’ll know by May 17. Hoping they’ll keep that date right…

I was accepted (AP/EA)! I want to take Introduction to Data Structures (I took AP Comp Sci last year)
and Introduction to Electrical and Computer Engineering.

Name: Trevor
Location: Miami, FL
Age: 17 (rising senior)
General Interests: Biology (especially genetics), computer science, electronics, origami, ridiculous array of random stuff, discussing science concepts with my equally nerdy friends
Favorite Cereal: Lucky Charms
Other: I’m half-African American. That’s my diversity.
Stats: 2220 SAT, 34 ACT, 221 PSAT, 3.8 GPA, robotics team captain

Also, I’m curious if anyone who applied (or got in) to this went to Duke TiP.

So I’ll find out if I made it in on my birthday? That could be very good. Not necessarily bad. There’s other options.

@Trebawa: Your stats are amazing! And hey, we’re from the same area.
@jutley93: Happy early Birthday! :P

congratulations trebawa!!
i applied to TiP this year but i never followed through with the application…plus i didn’t want to go through the financial aid process blah blah…but i know people who did it in 7th and 8th grade

im really excited to go to CMU this summer! fyi for the dorms make sure you bring a fan because they are hot at times

So, is it easier to mail stuff up there, or to just bring it all on a plane? Or just buy stuff there, because I’m not sure I can carry a fan… ;-)

Hey I got in AP/EA too!

Name: Chris Cho
Location: Toto, Guam
Age: 17 (rising senior)
General Interests: Pikachu! Sports, Music…
Favorite Cereal: Cinnamon Toast Crunch
Other: I’m Korean and I live on a tiny island in the middle of nowhere… I think that’s my diversity

What courses are you guys going to take?

@miranda: i shipped all of my clothes and materials i needed to cmu and it costed me about $30 and i brought a carry on on the plane…so it is much cheaper to ship your stuff ahead of time and pack a weeks worth of clothes and a pillow to carry on the plane. with the cost of luggage and just 1 carryon…just mail everything
hahahha yeah you dont want to carry a fan =]

congrats pikacho!

Thanks and congrats too ambaturkey11! hahahahha I can’t wait to go to CMU too! But it’s so far away from where I am… -_-;;; Guam—>Pennsylvania… Not necessarily a pretty trip

I wonder who my roommate will be. :D

that is going to be an interesting trip!! CMU is awesome! well I know that the pre-college kids stay in morewood…or at least they did next year but everyone there is really nice so you won’t get a bad roommate.

hahah I’m so excited! hey everyone who got into ap/ea should join the facebook group on it so we could get to know each other before the thing! :D

that’s a great idea! even though SAMS students and pre-college students don’t take the same classes i’ll probably see you guys in the cafeteria during lunch or something…even though morewood has better food (you’ll know what I mean when you get there) =]
i’ll be the one with a nametag with my screenname the first week =]

I’ve tried to find a group on Facebook for SAMS and I don’t think there is any :/

There isn’t one for the Game Academy either. :-(

We should just make one big huge group for ALL the CMU precollege/sams people xD

^ I agree! Go for it!

okay I made it :D
