Carolina - Clemson

How many OOSers are fully aware of how deep this rivalry is in the Palmetto State?

How many were raised with an aversion to the color orange as oppposed to only becoming recently aware that it's a bit more than just a rivalry?

As an interesting side point, there is a very strange coincidence of two posters on this site with the same moniker of "greenville". One posting here on the Carolina forum about looking forward to being a Gamecock (Capstone, etc) while another "greenville" poster on the Clemson forum is stating:

"Thanks for the helpful info. Maybe we'll be able to send out orange Valentines this year!!"

It's even more of a coincidence that both joined on the same day and have a college visit write-up about the College of Charleston.

Sorry if I "outed" you greenville - it's all part of the fun madness of this intense rivalry called Carolina - Clemson; or Clempson - Carolina depending on which way you swing.

Please, don't get me started on Clemson.

Well I guess you already know/feel it SAT, I was just seeing if any of those already accepted from OOS was aware of how strong this rivalry is, and it's general history.

My son has been accepted to USC and is highly considering it as his top choice...Capstone is the deciding factor. He also applied to Clemson, and is hoping for admission to the Bridge program, which he would consider. I , my husband, daughter, son-in-law are all Clemson alumni. (Where did my son come from? But hey - if he loves USC, so be it.) He was accepted at College of Charleston, and turned it down because they do not offer an Engineering degree. He has also been accepted at Lander with a substantial scholarship...this would be the dual degree Lander/Clemson program, which would result in an engineering degree from Clemson and a CIS degree from Lander. So, as you see, right now, his choice is between Lander/Clemson and USC and they are "tied."

So, know you know my valid reason for posting on both sites...why are you reading the Clemson posts? LOL

we didnt know about it before August 2006 but we sure do know about it now!!!

I knew about it because I saw the big football fight a few years back.

greenville,

My family history in SC pre-dates the Revolution, and while I have lived "abroad" for nearly 30 years I keep up on any aspect of my roots. Naturally with a D being accepted to Carolina I wanted to see what the acceptance standards were at Clemson (no application there - as they don't have a Moore School of Business). Just curious.

Being knowledgeable about the rivalry (alumni friends from both camps) I found it amusing that the same poster was gushing with anticipation of being a Gamecock and a Tiger at the same time. Unique perspective I must say.

As for me, I find it a little ironic myself that I may have to finally make a solid stand on one side of this great divide after a lifetime of sitting on the fence. I happen to have liked sitting on that fence - even attended a small private college situated almost exactly between Columbia and Clemson (that happened to have beat both of them in back-to-back baseball games when both were nationally ranked).

I'm from Texas and the Clemson USuC(teehehe) rivalry reminds me of the UTexas and Texas A&M rivalry. I'm used to it, and this time my choice is the team in ORANGE!!!

Jeanne07,

Please send my regards to Jad Dean.

Thanks.

Greenville, You might have to buy one of those license plates that has both the USC/Clemson moniker and says "House Divided" on it :)

It's starting to look that way!! (As long as it's MOSTLY orange) LOL!!
