Does anyone know how freshmen go about getting a parking decal for spring semester? what are the GPA requirements if it's true that they look at that?

I was under the impression that you couldnt have a car till soph year.........

thats just what i heard.... but i could def be wrong

Nope, with good academic progress you can, but I am not sure what the cutoff is. I don't think it is all that hard to get though.

EDIT that was a bit unclear...freshman can bring cars their second semester if they did well first semester.

You can have a car second semester freshman year unless you've really messed up academically or discipline-wise. The bar isn't high. You'd best be prepared, though, for kids you barely even know to come knocking at your door at 6 a.m. on a weekend morning, because they know you have one...

One of the big reasons my ND son wants my daughter to get in EA (besides the fact she is his sister, and they are pretty close) is he figures, with two of them up there, will send up a car. In our weaker moments, we must have promised that...now I'm looking for ways to backtrack!

i still dont understand how one goes about doing so though

In checking the ND website, it appears that you may need to contact the VP of ResLife or ND Security Police. Just go to the main website. Surely the ND campus police can direct you the the proper office for determing if you can have a car on campus for spring semester of your freshman year. Good Luck and drive safe!!!

Are there any real advantages to having a car if there is not much to do in south bend, and most kids stay on campus for entertainment anyway?
