yesnomaybe–I have never seen such a list of how many scholarships are available (and it may vary by year, depending on the economy & what the endowment funds are doing), though I did once see the minimum requirements for ACT or SAT scores. Don’t remember what they are but they do exist.

They used to list specific ACT/SAT and class rank requirements for the Trustees, Provost, and President scholarships in the General Bulletin ([Case Western Reserve University - General Bulletin 2009-2011](http://www.case.edu/bulletin/09-11/index.htm)). The latest Bulletin (2009-2011) makes no mention of these requirements.

yesnomaybeso7: In your example, I’m pretty sure you’d get the 20k total (but that’s still much better than getting 20k in fin aid since Case does A LOT of loans).

Another question: does financial aid cover tuition and room and board or just tuition. Like if my family’s EFC is like 30K, does that mean it includes room and board? Ugh I hate this because my family owns a bunch of violins because they are violinists and so it looks like we have a bunch of assets, but we don’t really actually have that much money.

^^^^
Would you have more money if you sold the violins?

We would, but thats how my parents earn their money so thats not a possibility.

^^I don’t think you are required to list assets such as musical instruments! I mean, I have a piano, but it wouldn’t occur to me to mention it.

EFC is the total your family is expected to pay, and yes that includes everything. Unless you are able to live at home or at a relative’s house, they will have to pay R&B as well as tuition, right?

How many do your parents need to make a living?

I don’t really know, but selling in this economy is just not a choice. For legit musical instruments it would take years to sell.

And yeah, I’m planning on living oncampus wherever I go.

FAFSA does not ask about violins…it doesn’t even ask about boats, for heaven’s sake! (surprising, huh?) So you don’t have to sell your Strad or your sailboat.

From a web site about FAFSA: “The federal methodology does not count boats as an asset, but several private colleges and universities count the family boat as an asset when allocating institutional funds. Likewise, some schools will ask whether the student owns a car and when it was purchased.”

The CSS Profile supplement does ask more closely about assets, but Case does not require the Profile.

I got a email that a early decision email will be sent today? Do you know what time they usually send this? Has anyone got today?

I just got an email with a link to a webpage. I got in with a 30k/year scholarship.

I got my decision today…deferred :(

Guess I won’t be getting a scholarship LOL
Any ideas of what my slim chances are for still being accepted? Any ideas of things to improve my chances other than submitting new grades??

Accepted with a $25k/per year scholarship!

Accepted! Where’s everyone from? Michigander here!

Also accepted (from Michigan). $30k per years is fairly attractive, but Umich is still my first choice (no matter what the aid).

Accepted with $30k scholarship. Does anyone know if this is the final offer? Also, if there is a chance of it going up will there be a big change or just a small one? Actually, is this the financial aid offer or just an addition to that?

D’s been accepted with a 32.5K scholarship!
I think we had to submit a preliminary CSS Profile and this number is fairly close to what I expect our FAFSA EFC would be.
I’d be interested to hear the answer to rowland96’s question, since D has a Presidential Scholarship at 'Bama and more applications going out.

I got accepted with a 25k/year scholarship. I’m probably not going to attend, so hopefully somebody else will happily take my spot!

accepted! but already got in WASHU for ED!

congrats to everyone!
