Case Western Applicants Class of 2021!

does case meet 100% of demonstrated financial need? I’m worried because my financial aid package is a lot more than my family’s expected contribution :frowning:

Accepted with 3.8 WGPA, very very strong extracurricular with domestic violence victims, strong refs, strong essay. And the Bolton Scholarship!

Accepted w/ $32,500 Scholarship

3.6 unweighted GPA
31 ACT
Strong EC
VERY Strong Course Curriculum
Cleveland Native
Showed major interest (visit, interview, tour)

Did anyone on here on to the Fall preview??!!!

@chemisdie Case does not meet full need. My son’s package came to 55k including 20.5k schol, 19k grant, Pell, Loans and Work Study. Thats 13k short of COA.

@UofMorMSU Yes we did. It was a nice personal touch, and shows they look at the applicant closely, since our PS had to with with EC activities.

Accepted with full tuition! With things like pell and other grants, I’m looking at about 8-10k in loans if I don’t do work or internships which isnt too bad.

Congrats to everyone who was accepted and good luck to those applying for RD.

Does anyone know when they will be sending a physical letter in the mail. To my understanding they sent one to all the accepted ea applicants around this time last year (along with some other goodies).

Child deferred with 4.0 UW GPA, many AP and CCP classes (including Calc III), graduating with over 30 high school (and 20 college) credits, graduate-level research at local university in computer programming and computation physics, extracurriculars, lettered in sports, weekend job. Current class rank 1/240. ACT 35, 800 SAT II in math and physics. Got an email today asking to submit his last term grades… still a 4.0… not sure what is missing but wanted to encourage others who were deferred. Unfortunately, Case’s lack of interest has affected our child’s interest in the school as well.

@StemmyMom Sorry about the deferral. Is it his #1 choice? Did he visit? If he’s not totally turned off, do as they ask with grades, and express continued interest by visiting or interviewing (did he do that yet?). I would think he would likely get an acceptance.

@MACncheez thanks for the support! No clear first choice yet. We live close and visited on our own - did the usually email communications. Not sure if we will continue the process. Hard to get excited about a school that doesn’t show interest in a strong student. Fortunately, there are plenty of other great opportunities so we aren’t worried. I just wanted to post our info because I know there are likely a lot of great students out there who were deferred.

@StemmyMom, I’m thinking that if your kid did not do an official sign in tour and have an interview then CWRU may have deferred him to protect their yield. They weren’t sure that your high stats kid was serious about attending. Especially if you are close by to visit. I’m thinking that to CWRU, interest is very important to them.

@StemmyMom What I was getting at was exactly what @goingnutsmom mentioned. Some schools, and Case has been identified as one of them (although I see kids getting in all the time who have never visited or interviewed) try to protect their numbers. If they see a super smart kid apply without showing much interest (like, living close and not visiting?), then they feel they are being used as a safety. They defer lots of kids for that reason. It’s very valid in my opinion. It’s also a silly game in my opinion. Anyway, if your son wants to attend Case, he should play the game, write a letter or visit. If he doesn’t, totally fine. As you say, there are plenty of other great opportunities.

so do we get an acceptance letter in the mail or nah?

I recieved one from other colleges, but not one from Case. Anyone receive one?

I haven’t and I’m in Ohio - I think last year it was a bit later than this when people started getting them. Maybe in a few days

From what I’ve read they started getting them around 12/30

Alight thanks I’ll keep my eye out and try to remember to post here. I’m in Cleveland so I assume I’d be pretty early in getting it.

keep checking your application status on their website. You will see if there is an update.

Yeah I feel like they should have definitely sent some sort of letter by now. I guess we will just have to wait and see
