Case is on winter break so it could be that admissions is also away…classes resume on the 17th so possibly letters will be coming soon!
@macncheez and @goingnutsmom, this is our oldest and we were unaware that any school would place that much importance on a formal visit. We should have joined this college confidential much earlier. Lesson learned! Visiting campuses is a huge hurdle for our family between his school/work schedule and the fact that I am quite ill and in a wheelchair. The funny thing is that even since deferment, we continue to receive recruitment snail mail from them every single week encouraging him to apply. Can someone explain what “protect their yield” means?
Essentially, Case Western with it’s free app and no additional essay can be used as a really easy backup school for high stat students. Case doesn’t like this cause these students are unlikely to actually attend case and this reduces yield, or the amount of admitted students who actually attend. So what they do is that they will defer these students who have applied but shown no interest to RD and allow them to withdraw applications after EA/ED decisions. Case then doesn’t “waste” an admit. Tulane is another school in a very similar situation.
@StemmyMom You don’t necessarily have to visit in person, but you do have to show interest. Colleges understand that you may not be able to visit in person until you are admitted.
To find out what a college values in admissions, search for the “Common Data Set” for any college. It has many statistics about the colleges admissions process.
To see the relative importance of factors such as Demonstrated Interest, etc. in admissions.check out the latest CWRU Common Data Set, Section C7

Case considers the “Level of applicant’s interest” to be “Important” in the admissions decision.
Here are some ways to show interest:
+Sign up for information.https://go.case.edu/register/requestinformation Actually open these emails…colleges know if you do or don’t.
+Attend a college fair and talk to the admissions counselor/alumni. They will have a method for you to share your information. https://go.case.edu/portal/college-fairs
+Attend a High School visit if CWRU visits your HS
+Attend a regional information session. https://go.case.edu/portal/off-campus
+Take a tour/Go to open house if possible. https://go.case.edu/portal/campus-visit

Soooo I called the admissions office the other day and asked whether they will be sending any formal letter of acceptance in the mail and they said everything pertaining to admissions is done online through the portal. I find this kind of suspect considering that if you look at the thread from last year there were a lot of people saying that they received some kind of package at around this time. Considering that I find it highly unlikely that so many people would be lying I would really like to know what’s going on.
I am a current Case student. As far as I remember. All notifications of acceptance, etc. were done online. If you are accepted you will eventually receive a package with some Case stuff inviting you to attend the admitted student days.
Yup that’s what was in there. I need to schedule a day now. Figure might as well since I live in Cleveland.
Has anyone else been receiving emails from Case? The last 2 days we have received emails that would suggest that our D has been accepted but that’s not the case. There is nothing on the portal. Maybe this is just some type of mass email. Here is email from today:

@andtam My D just got theh same email but has not yet been accepted either. Very Strange !
@andtam
@lorhop
My son and I received the same email this morning, I simply took it as a stay-in-touch sort of email. Notifications are still a month away for regular decision but did you apply early-action?
yeah, Bob likes to send emails frequently
@reformedman, My D applied RD as well.
RD
I got the same email!! I’m still waiting until Feb 1 for PPSP though
does everyone receive PPSP notification or is it only semifinalists?
I got the same email and I’m an admitted student from EA. It’s a little tweaked (it mentions admitted student days I have to sign up for) but pretty much the same! I don’t know if it means anything, though. They also sent me a pretty cute package with a bunch of case stuff like a backpack, journal, headphones, pencils, etc. Props to the admissions department, they’re doing a good job lol
@AJRY808 , Are you admitted to PPSP program ? If yes , would you mind sharing your credentials?
Which PPSPs did you guys apply for?
Have any Californians gotten undergrad interviews?
No, I didn’t apply for the PPSP; I believe EA students are unable to do so.
