^ You probably don’t want to do that. The numbers from CDS are everything included, ED or not. It is the overall or final yield. The yield/admit ratio is 15%/37%=0.4. The lower the ratio is, the more “safety school” the school is.
@Jenbio101 It’s frustrating, to say the least. I am so happy for all that got accepted and wish them the best wherever they decide to matriculate, I’m sure they all were very deserving. My frustration lies with the heavy push from the admissions department to get my daughter to apply. Do we get mailers from lots of schools? Yes. Did any of them email my daughter directly to get her to apply for free? Nope. Just Case. They continued to send her mailers in excess so that she would keep them in mind. Up until last week’s acceptance from MIT they were definitely a serious contender. I’m still a fan of the distance as well, considering MIT is a 13 hour drive compared to 6 with Case. I honestly think it boils down to wanting to get their acceptance rate down super low and the fact that they don’t want to meet our full need.
@wildcatmom16 We did not visit until after my son was admitted either. He had many good options and could have accepted his slot at a top 20 school. Did not mean to imply that kids chose Case only because they had no other options, but because that many of his friends looked at the same high stats schools he did. For everyone who feels they did not get accepted because their stats were too high, or they had need, there are many high stat kids who are accepted, their need is met and they enroll. There are also high stats kids who are denied. I can honestly say I didn’t think my son would end up at Case but there were compelling reasons to chose Case in addition to a very nice merit award. He had other fantastic offers that were painful to turn down.
Yes @ambkeegan we did apply for financial aid.
@bopper @annana After my son scored a 35 ACT we were inundated with mailers, Ivy’s also. We were bombarded with CW mailers, emails, and multiple mail/email no application fee. Really raises ones hope.

The primary (although by no means the only) participants on this thread are applicants, yet the last 3 pages are parents arguing about yield protection. While a fascinating topic, it is by no means specific to CWRU, and should be discussed on its own thread, if at all.
I was admitted to Case a few days back and recently saw in my USPS informed delivery page that I have two packages incoming from Weekley’s Mailing Service in Berea OH. Are these two things connected or is it just a coincidence?
We also have a pkg from Weekley’s, but it has been in pre-shipment waiting for item for couple of days. My son was accepted a while ago though.
@rishj09 Ditto, I was also admitted to CWRU and I currently have the two incoming / pre-scan informed delivery pks from Berea OH (mailing services).
@rishj09 It might be related. I was admitted EA and they sent me a notebook, lanyard, drawstring bag, and some trinkets.
@bestcasescenario
Did you receive two separate informed delivery pkgs or one? I find it odd that there is two separate pkg separate by 2 days . E.g. one pre screened on 3/21 and the other on 3/23.
I just got one.
@Volunteerism I have one getting delivered today while the other is still in prescreening. I also got an email stating that one package is related to me signing up for the admitted student days.
@rishj09
Same here. “have one getting delivered today while the other is still in prescreening.”
However, I have not signed up to admitted Student event yet.
@rishj09
I received the first package. Like @bestcasescenario said, it was a notebook, lanyard, drawstring bag, and some trinkets.
@Volunteerism Ok, I got the same thing too
It looks like we are expecting a total of 4 packages from WEEKLEY’S MAIL SERVICE, one was already delivered.
@ARIVERA1 I just got two new notices from WEEKLEY’S MAIL SERVICE (That makes 4 for me too). I received the gift package just like @Volunteerism but have no idea what the others are. Anyone know what they are? I did not sign up for an admitted student event, btw. I am sure one is the actual admittance stuff, but it seems strange to get so many.
I have 3 packages, one out for delivery and 2 in preshipment from Weekley’s. I’ll post when we receive the package hopefully this evening.
Has anyone heard about extra scholarships that they applied to for CWRU yet?
