Case Western Reserve University - What are my chances?

I am an Asian Male

My UW GPA is a 3.4 , I am in my Senior Year

I transferred to a private school highschool year after being severely bullied in middleschool. Example, my head was slammed into windows, breaking the glass, shoes stuffed in my face, as well as general daily mocking. I had a rough transition, especially since the standard s for the curriculums were a lot higher at my new school versus the public school, and all my friends went to the public school. I was generally, at least I hate to say, depressed for the first year, and I really didn’t have any friends. It really took me out of my groove in terms of academics. It wasn’t until sophomore year I started picking up. From there my grades have been on a solid positive trend. I finished Junior year with a 3.65, and am on track to finishing higher senior year.

In terms of classes, my school does not offer any AP’s freshman year, and only one sophmore year. The rest were available Junior year, and then my school got rid of APs all together senior year. I did AP studio Art my Junior year, outside of school, and got a 5 on that. And during senior year, I am taking Calculus and Anatomy and Physiology. Two courses that would have otherwise been APs.

My ACT is

Composite 32

English 35
Math 29
Science 31
Reading 32

Writing 9

I do one sport each season, and two varsity sports: (I have won a few awards for these(

Varsity Golf in Fall
Varsity Bowling in Winter
Junior Varsity Tennis in Spring

I am the founder of the Cryptocurrency development and investment club at my school. I teach kids about blockchain and Cryptocurrency, as well as teach them how to program.

I also started my own blockchain/cryptocurrency company that uses cryptocurrency to incentivise academic engagement within the school. I implemented the model and product in my school successfully, and I got a partnership with a tech company to use my idea to implement in hundreds of schools in India.

I am on the committee for the Leukimia and Lymphoma Society for my state’s branch. We nominate highschool students to run for the Student of the Year campaign, and we assist them along the way.

I also volunteer at a hospital each week of the summer for at least 4 hours

Freshman year, I was the class treasurer
Senior year, I am Student Government Rep

My goal in the future is to pursue medicine, and I believe Case Western Reserve will give me a great start.

What do you want to major in?

I would say your ACT score is at the 50%tile at Case
See Section C9 https://case.edu/ir/sites/case.edu.ir/files/2018-09/CDS%202018-2019.pdf

Your GPA is low for Case, but understandable given your circumstances.

Does your Guidance Counselor talk about your challenges freshman year in their recommendation letter?
Otherwise your GPA has no context.

What classes are you taking Junior and Senior year?

At the moment, my guidance counselor bis unaware of my circumstances. My recommendation letter was not released to me .She is new to the school, and came mid last year, during my Junior year. At this point, I’m unsure whether to include the details of my circumstances or not.

In terms of classes in Junior Year, I took the following:

Pre-Calculus

American Authors (Standard English course)

U.S. History

Physics

Speech and Debate (1 semester)

Jazz Band

The Learning Project (In this class, you select any topic, and you spend the entire semester researching it, and producing a result. Example, a student in the past wanted to know how boats worked, so he researched about boats, got in contact with experts, and built a boat. In my case, I wanted to learn more about cryptocurrency, so I did research, went to conferences, consulted experts, and programmed a cryptocurrency and application from scratch. This class is one semester)

Entrepreneurship Lab (This course is one semester. It is centered around learning how a business functions, and actually developing business models ourselves, which were presented to a “Shark Tank”. During the semester, we worked with real companies to solve different problems. For example, one was a startup BBQ restaurant that required assistance with developing a kids menu, so we conducted surveys, and analyzed data to found conclusions)

The Graphic Novel (A Semester long course centered around analyzing graphic novels and their cultural impacts/ relations to the world. Involved a lot of essay writing and reading)

for Senior year so far, I have the following:

Calculus AB (This course would have been an AP, but my school transitioned out all APs this year)

Classical English Literature (Apart from reading books and writing essays, this course also requires us to do a year long capstone research project)

Generations of Jerusalem (A semester long course studying the history of Jerusalem. Involves reading, discussions, and essay /speeches)

Anatomy and Physiology (Would have been AP)

Technology, Entertainment, and Design (T.E.D) (This semester long course is dedicated to analyzing the concepts behind different TED talks, and their real world origins and impacts)

Jazz Band

I intend to major in one of the following:
