If this was between Oberlin and CWRU, it would have been a harder decision IMO as Oberlin’s reputation in the natural sciences departments among science academics is well-renowned.
However, due to self-selection and the orientation of those departments, vast majority tend to go on to PhD programs to become research scientists/academics or become science teachers in K-12. That doesn’t meant one can’t get a great pre-med education there…just that one will be in a tiny minority of folks who pursue that route due to self-selection.
One older college classmate who was a Double-Degree student(Viola/Chemistry) ended up attending the Chem PhD program at an HYPSMCC. A few friends in the Physics department at MIT noted that they had a few Oberlin alums as fellow PhD students in their department when my undergrad came up in conversation.
