Case Western

I was looking into Case Western and it looks like a great University. I was wondering, how is Cleveland, Ohio?

I've lived in Cleveland for about 6 years now and know the area pretty well. I moved from NYC, so it was a big change of pace, people are more laid back, IMO.

Case is in, arguably, the best part of Cleveland. There are a good number of museums, Severance Hall and some art galleries within walking distance of the campus. If you have a car you will be able to explore more, downtown is only about 5-10 minutes from campus. Downtown...well not much to do for a college student I guess, besides sports. But stuff is out there, like the West Side Market, Gray's Amory, etc...but you just have to look for it. We've got the Browns, Indians, and Cavs and minor league hockey, so if your a sports fan you should be covered. There is the Great Lakes Science Center, but you won't be going there to often as a college kid.

Closer to Case there is a really cool neighborhood called Coventry. It's really fun and a popular place for Case students. Also Case is pretty close to Little Italy, which has some cool shops and restaurants.

Someone PM'ed me asking the same thing and I wrote a longer response, but I'll see if I haven't deleted already.

Good luck.

Edit: Sorry, I deleted it already, but I'll add a few things now.
In Sandusky, about an hour away from Cleveland, there is the world famous Cedar Point. Also, by the airport, there is something called the I-X Center. Thats where they have the auto show, gun show, etc...

If you have any other questions, I'll do my best to answer them.

My brother went to case. Great school. Terrible weather. He would only go to grad school south of mason dixon line.

LOL, that's why if I don't get into Notre Dame, I'd love to go to school in the South.

^^ Is public transportation big in Cleveland? I wouldn't really mind the weather... I do live in Upstate New York.

I take RTA(our public transportation) to my H.S. sometimes and, honestly its not that good. Though, with the economy in the crapper, more people are starting to ride, but there is still is not the volume to support a bigber bus/train service. Routes are being cut and RTA faces a deficit. But Case is in the University Circle area, so you shouldn't have to worry about a route near you getting cut. Ilive on the West side and they are mostly cutting out in the suburbs.

But, in short, it's decent, but not great. It gets you to where you want to go, and it is usually on time.
