Cat allergies at MIT....

I was recently admitted to MIT and I am of course very exited about going but the issue of some dorms being "cat friendly" has me a little bit worried. While this seems kind of like a silly problem, I'm actually pretty scared that being allergic to cats is going to severely limit my dorm options.

My two top choice dorms both allow cats and while I am not deathly allergic I would still like to be able to sleep in a cat free environment. I'm basically just wondering weather or not there are particular suits, or floors, which are designated to be cat free. I can bear having cats in the common area if it means living in a dorm with a culture that I like.

The dorms that are “cat friendly” actually only have a few cat friendly floors. At least in Random Hall, three fourths of the dorm is cat-free and there are some people who are allergic to cats who live in that three fourths.

East Campus, another cat friendly dorm, is 5 cat halls and 5 non-cat halls. In both Random and EC, you will not be placed on a cat floor if you bring up your allergy.

Thanks for the feedback. Does anyone know how it works in Senior House or Bexley?
