Catholic Universities

So I'm Catholic and looking at colleges and would love to go to a Catholic Unversity. I'm looking at Marquette, De Paul, and Notre Dame. What are other Catholic schools with good reputations? College of Holy Cross, Villanova, Fordham, thoughts?

My S went to Fordham undergrad and Notre Dame for grad school. He had great experiences and got a great education at both schools. BC and Georgetown are two excellent schools not on your list. But take a look at this list of Jesuit schools and then research which ones might work for you. <a href=“Association of Jesuit Colleges and Universities--Jesuit Colleges and Universities”>http://www.ajcunet.edu/institutions</a></p>

Thanks for your comment, the link was very helpful!

Years ago, Time Magazine had an article on “The Catholic Ivy League”. It is not a real league but merely their way of saying that the following Catholic colleges were considered the best in the nation:

Notre Dame
Georgetown
College of the Holy Cross
Fordham
Boston College
St Louis University

Do you want a Catholic school with a good academic reputation or a challenging academic environment with a good Catholic reputation?

Yes that would be ideal! Not a requirement to be catholic, but it’d be preferred.

Loyola…IL, MD, CA
Gonzaga
Creighton
Santa Clara

Run the Net Price Calculators on each of these college websites because the range in price you’ll find is likely to be vast:
Holy Cross meets full need… Notre Dame unfortunately gaps lower-income kids… and Santa Clara is overall horrible at financial aid, for instance.

And there is this big thread about Villanova’s cost and value to a particular student and family…
<a href=“Is Villanova University worth it? - Parents Forum - College Confidential Forums”>http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/parents-forum/1615103-is-villanova-university-worth-it.html</a></p>

Don’t forget to look at Catholic University. It’s in DC.

Providence College, U. of Scranton, Franciscan University, Benedictine College, Ave Maria University, Univ. of Dayton, Siena College, Lemoyne College, Stonehill College, Seton Hall, Mount St. Mary, DeSales Univ., St. Bonaventure University.

Old thread

What is the reputation of LeMoyne College in Syracuse? for political science, pre-law. I guess I’m asking what do people do after graduating - what kinds of graduate programs and/or law schools do they get into?
