CBH class for Math major

I’ll be a freshman this fall majoring in Psychology in the CBH program. I was looking at adding another major (possibly Math) but there are ancillary requirements like CS 100 and CS101. I was wondering if it is possible to use CBH courses to fulfill this requirement since they fulfill the computer(C) courses for the language requirement.

Since CBH 101/102 may be taken in lieu of CS 100 for CS majors, I’d guess that the same would apply for a math major, although I can’t be certain. There is no CBH substitute, however, for CS 101 - at least not for CS majors. I’d suggest asking Ms. Batson (jbatson@ua.edu), since she probably handles inquiries like this on a regular basis.

Did you take AP statistics?

If so and you got a 3 or higher, you can place out of Stats 260 and not have to take CS 101.

See the ancillary courses section here:

And AP credit here re: ST 260:

Unfortunately I don’t have AP credits for Statistics. My school decided to cancel the class this past year :frowning: I guess I’ll email Ms. Batson about the ancillary requirements though.

Hi @Raxterfawk ! Welcome to the CBH family! I’m a math major in CBH. I just checked my Degreeworks because Mrs. Batson is on vacation and may not be checking her email as often as usual. CBH 101 fulfills the ‘Programming I’ slot in the ancillary requirements and CBH 102 fulfills the ‘Computer Science/Statistic Course’ slot. It looks like they completely take care of those requirements.
