Fordham's Choir will be on tv on Christmas Eve!

A holiday service of Lessons and Carols, A New York Christmas to Remember, featuring host Regis Philbin, the puppetry of the late Jane Henson (wife of Muppets creator Jim Henson,) and the Fordham University Choir will be broadcast on Tuesday, Dec. 24 at 11:30 p.m. on the CBS network.

The University Choir will be joined by the National Children's Chorus and the St. Paul the Apostle Choir at the Church of St. Paul the Apostle, which sits a stone's throw from Fordham's Lincoln Center campus.

Throughout the hourlong special, Philbin will read biblical stories intercut with the puppet performances of the Henson's daughters, Heather and Cheryl Henson. Like her husband, Jane Henson, who died last year, had a long history of working with puppetry. While studying theology, she was taken with medieval three-dimensional nativity scenes. She creatively blended her two interests into a new format, which her daughters will utilize to bring the nativity story to life.

Just one of the cool things you get to do when you go to college in New York City!

Looking forward to seeing this!

A friend of my daughter is in the choir. I spotted him in the picture. We are very excited to watch this!

Fabulous. But I will be at midnight mass! I have nothing against Regis or Muppets, but why not have the choir with the midnight mass at either Church of St. Paul or the University Church at Rose Hill?

Sovereign, this was filmed a couple of weeks ago.
Hope you can tape it.

Oh…okay. Makes sense. Thanks. I wondered since it was Christmas Eve and I thought St. Pauls had a midnight mass as well. Doh! LOL

I have a photo of the choir with Regis but I don’t think we can post photos on here. The church is beautiful. Regis has never been a big favorite of mine, but my daughter said he was funny and very nice. After a group photo he stuck around and let the kids take individual photos with him. My daughter left, she had things to do, but she thinks he hung out for quite a while.

Here’s a preview. Lots of photos of Fordham.

This is very exciting Lefty! I want to record it but I’m having difficulty finding it. I tried searching by date and time and got nothing. Do you know the name of the special?

It should be on in the David Letterman time slot, around 11:30 (11:35 around here) on CBS. Looks like it’s A New York Christmas To Remember. Maybe if you search Jane Henson?

Ok that should help! Thanks!

Just watched this beautiful special! Congrats to all involved! Merry Christmas!!!
