@ccmhill Hey, I’m also applying for my junior year. I used Scouting for that essay question and I think you can write about any past time or activity you like (Personally, I think writing about volunteer work and stuff like helping other is better). And as for the part where you list your activities just mention everything you’ve done for any period of time in the past couple of years (Hiking, Surfing, Volunteer work, Tutoring, Sports, School Clubs and stuff like that). If you need any help feel free to message me whenever you like
Btw the deadline for CIEE’s application was December 18, I don’t know about the other organizations. If it’s past the deadline just send them an email or call. In my experience, the people at CIEE are really nice and understanding and I’m sure the other organizations are the same so don’t be afraid to talk to them if it’s past your deadline
My son just got an email for an interview, and he wants to know what he should wear. Should he go with a dress shirt and tie or just a nice shirt and khakis?
So my understanding for CIEE is that there are semifinalists in February and interviews won’t be until after that. Is it normal for the process to vary this much from between organizations?
Hey! I’m a semifinalist for CBYX (CIEE region). I wanted to tell y’all that there’s a Facebook group and group chat if any of you want to join! Feel free to friend & message me if you want to be added to the group.
I’m curious what percent of applicants become semi-finalists, and what percent of semi-finalists receive the scholarship. I’m particularly wondering about the ASSE region.
Does anyone happen to know?
Also, I am a semi-finalist (Yay!). Will anyone be at the Kelso, WA interview event?
@curlykat I’m not super sure about your region specifically, but I know that in years past CIEE has had around 600+ applicants, then about 100 become semifinalists, and 50 are finalists. I’m not sure about ASSE though!
So, I know I’m late to the discussion but I figured I’d also join in. If anyone here has been a semi-finalist from the ASSE region, when do you usually find out if you made it in or not? I’m from Washington if that makes a difference.
