I was wondering what the competition would be for CBYX's Study and Intern program in Germany. I plan to apply next year and of course I'll do the best that I can with the essay questions and interview (if I make it that far), but I wanted to know how competitive it is from a general standpoint.

There is not really any information about the applicant pool, other than that only 75 get accepted.

From what I understand, it depends on the region (residence) of the applicant. If you go on the general CBYX site, you’ll see applications are taken by different exchange organizations according to region. I’ve heard that competition is much greater for the east coast region than the Midwest for example. I don’t know whether the exchange organization would give you that info or not.

I think OP is asking about CBYX as in the Young Professionals program so it’s different from the high school application/competition.

From what I know, competition has been getting tougher each year. This year they had around 700 applicants for 150 interview spots (and 75 actual spots).

I’d say just apply and go for it. There isn’t any cost involved in the application process so you don’t have anything to lose. :)
