<p>MSN didn't get good until recently, AIM has been pretty good for a long time. Most people are on AIM, anyways. I have MSN (using my gmail account), but only three contacts who all have AIM anyways.</p>
<p>the only thing I would change was I wish they could tell us on aim when we've been added to someone's buddy list</p>

<p>You can block people who are not on your buddy list, so that someone would kind of have to request to be your friend...too much of a hassle though.
None of my friends use MSN, so I use AIM, though I just got Adium for my mac and I loove it :p</p>

<p>I also like aim because I used to use aol and so I didn't have to lose contact with those people when I switched providers since a lot of them didn't have another messenger besides aol</p>
