Yeah if you look for the watches around 25-50 yuan, they'll most likely stop working within a week or two.

The ones around 100-200 yuan are obvious fakes but they can last quite a while. I have one that's worked fine for almost a year now. If you're looking for a real Rolex it's obviously not the best place to look but you can get a good quality fake that's functional.

I find the best things to buy are clothes and shoes. I got several dress shirts for around 50 yuan, polo shirts around 40. Also got a nice pair of timberlands for around 60.

It can be a lot of fun to barter with them. They try to sell you something for 400 yuan, and so you laugh and say you won't accept anything more than 50. They look at you in disbelief, and sometimes get angry (one girl started hitting me with a shoe). But if you hold firm they'll usually come down to your price. If they don't, then you walk away and they'll usually call you back.

I bought a 2gb flash drive and it actually had a virus on it (which was apparently supposed to autorun), and was really only 512. It would've been a pretty good deal for the price at the time, if it was legit. I suppose a chip is a chip, if there was a huge markup going on a no-name company would reduce the prices in the US.

The wild bartering was cool, but more for cheaper stuff like food where I wasn't afraid of accidentally wasting some money.
