CC is waaay overrated.

i never said it wasn't my fault, and neither did i blame it on CC. I only said CC made me underestimate myself especially since most of the kids around here think a 3.8 GPA is SOOOO LOWWW, OMGZJKFJDSKJFS: Basically, I'm saying, numbers, yes, is one of many factors in the admissions process. But i was too blinded at the time to realize that my essay and my extracurricular could have pulled me through despite having low (by CC"s standards) scores. Now I'm not complainging that I got accepted however they were all schools I applied to that I would never actually want to attend. So yes, they're acceptance letters but would you celebrate and throw a party for acceptance letters from your safeties espcially since they were your safeties which meant you had more than an 80% of being admitted?

CollegeConfidentail High is the most competitive high school with rolling and open admission on the planet. Period.

(And free tuition)

Thanks for the link, warblersrule86. It goes to prove my point even further that CC people are way above the avg of all but ~ 8 schools. I would have thought that 1464 would be way in the 99+%, but someone mentioned it was only 98%. Has the scale changed? How much lower would need to go to get to 98%?

Gellino-

The overall acceptance rate at Dartmouth is 15.4% this year, last year it was 16.8%, the year before 18.3%, the year before 19%. It hasn't been above 20% in almost 5 years.

Now realize I interview for RD, where the rate is much lower than this and, yeah, 12.5% is probably exactly right.

Dude CC gave me the biggest reality check ever..I thought I was hot stuff..till I saw lava

not to give a cheesy 80s analogy (although it's too late), but getting in IS HARD, and I would NOT be THAT motivated to kickass on my June06 SATs without CC.

END OF STORY.

i think something that has not been brought up is that Most of the acceptees to ivies have never even heard of websites like this. but i must say that there are many Extremely concerned students who are on CC which makes CC make all the acceptees seem so competitive and godly amazing (although i must say, HYPS most certainly do have a majority of). next, i must say that i went through the same thing as you precocious and not only did i feel like i have no chance but that i was constantly being downtrodden on by the rest of the CC'ers e.g. - people telling me i have 0 chance and that i shouldn't even bother applying, my stats and EC's are weak etc. etc. but in the end you have to realize that actually a lot of the times when some CC'ers tell you you can't make it, it's because you DO have strong stats =p other times, it's true (i mean, different people telling you and you = general people). not only does this give you a reality check, but it also builds strength of character and perseverance. remember that colleges are looking for people who are strong, who can survive under any conditions. don't let a forum on the distant corner of the web intimidate or upset you. but learn from what all these great (and sometimes overly competitive lol) people teach you, even if it seems like they're being harsh =)

here's something to cheer you up =p

and also check out the admits to the EA harvard forum ;] you'll see that not all the acceptees at The Top univeristy in the world (although they're applying to the college) are godly =p
