I am a CC student who just got a college fair invitation from Columbia University, School of General Studies. Can anyone tell me what Columbia University, School of General Studies is? Is this another lower lever institution like CC? Thanks guys!!

You can find out quite a bit more online. For example, here [Program Overview | General Studies](http://gs.columbia.edu/program-overview)

GS is one of the four undergraduate colleges associated with Columbia University, each with a different focus and mission. GS is a full four year college at Columbia University for non-traditional students. We’ve all taken at least a year off of school, or are in a special joint degree program, or similar. The average age is 29. However we take all the same classes as traditional Columbia College students. We have the same majors with the same requirements. There are some minor differences in the core requirements (GS has more flexibility, currently).

In general, no, it’s not a lower level institution. It’s a unique program for non-traditional adult students who want a rigorous liberal arts education, with all the good and bad that entails.

Hope that helps!

okay - now I get it. this is for non-traditional students
