CC VS Counselors-The War

Which do u think “knows” more about the inside secrets/successes of college?

counselors definitely in my opinion..my counselor has has many of her student accepted to top schools. And she knows what colleges like and hate

Are you talking about high school counselors or private counselors (the ones you hire and pay)? As far as hs counselors, it has been discussed ad nauseum on these boards how much the quality varies. S's counselor is awesome- but we pay some nice tuition for that service!
That said, I think the collective knowledge on CC is amazing. I have learned SO much, and I don't think any one person who does not avail himself of this online information can know as much as the CC community. The discussions on "Compare X School to Y School" and "What are the strengths and weaknesses of X?" are incredible sources of information. The CC community is heavily slanted towards upper end students and colleges, but the volume of admission stats and discussion of why people think they got in or didn't get in to a particular school surpass most of the data an individual counselor will have.
The hs counselor has data specific to that high school and may have important contacts with various college admission reps, however.

CC is better for asking about personal experiences on colleges because even the best GCs cannot compare with hundreds of people's experiences. Both GCs and CC are valuable in the college selection and admissions process.
