CCer's, I need your help! *Long*

Greetings all!

As I recently mentioned in another thread, I'm endeavoring to give a presentation at my former high school on the topic of applying to college. Many seniors and juniors at my HS are not familiar with general application guidelines, so this is kind of a catch-all quick tips guide to applying.

This is my second iteration, which takes into account the great suggestions I got from my preliminary attempt.

This version is in full powerpoint. However, instead of making you download the powerpoint or observe all the slides (I know CC doesn't like linking to images), I've copied all the text of the powerpoint below.

PLEASE consider taking some time to read, proofread, and critique this presentation.

On behalf of myself and all the seniors/juniors at my HS, THANK YOU!

looks great to me. You pretty much have everything that I could think of. Good Job!

Thanks! Any others?

Excellent presentation. Pat on the back to you for being willing to do so much to help your peers.

I think you can delete slide 3.

In slide 5: State first that they need to know how much their parents are willing to pay for college, and their parents' paramaters on their applications. Very important to say early that while financial aid exists, and there is virtually always some way to afford to go to college, this doesn't mean that one can afford to go to any college that accepts you.

There's no point in students' going through the work of making selections if those colleges are unaffordable or their parents won't allow them to go to those colleges.

Slide 24: Very important to emphasize that while some (not all!) colleges provide need-based aid, the colleges, not your family, determine your financial need and that may be less than your parents feel they are able to pay.

I also suggest that you have the GC make copies of what you printed here, and give them to each student so the students can take notes on those sheets during your presentation.

And certainly do mention this in your college app, and ask your GC to provide specifics in the GC report on you. You've put a lot of work and thought into this presentation, a fine example of pursuing a passion.

Look good! Mind sharing it with us cc'ers? :)
