Cell And Molecular Bio Major

My son is getting ready to declare a cell and molecular bio major. He's not interested in med school, and I don't think he has the grades anyway.
I am a bit worried about what will be available to him when he graduates whether it be job or grad school, since I don't know a whole lot about the field. Anyone familiar with the major?

Technology moves quickly, so these things are always a bit difficult to predict. But there is an excellent chance that he would be able to find positions in labs either in academia or in industry, the latter being with pharma or biotech companies doing research, or companies involved in making products used in research. There are many. Of course grad school has tons available, there are many excellent programs. If he went on to a masters or PhD the jobs when he finished would be similar except at a higher level.

Beyond this, anyone with scientific expertise has options available. Sometimes one just has to be open to some non-traditional possibilities, such as marketing scientific products.
