I was wondering about the policy on cell phone use and the required lights out time (respectively) at BS. Yes, I have searched many websites, but all I can seem to find are acceptable use policies and required check-in times.
Short answer - Lights out varies by school, and often by grade within school. Cell phone policy may also vary.In most instances, no cell phone use in class, chapel, etc. Some schools may shut down wifi with lights out.
From my recollection (but may not be exact) at Lawrenceville
Second form: 10:40 pm (Sun-Fri); 11:00 pm Sat
Third/Fourth form: 11:15 pm; 1 am Sat
Fifth form: no lights out rules, but must be in rooms by midnight
Some schools have different policies for Freshman such as earlier lights out and cell phone turn in. A boy we know uses an older i-phone as a decoy. He turns in or puts this old phone in sight for check in, while keeping charged one in bed. Not recommendin, just smiling at his creativity :)]
Others students connect bluetooth headphones to their phone that is sitting outside their door and talk to their parents until their parents realize that it’s study hours. I might know a kid who does that.
