I was selected as a Centennial Scholar for Barnard, but our financial aid was three times our EFC, so for my parents it isn’t doable at all. . .do you think that being a Scholar can help convince Barnard to give me more money if I call them up?
Thanks!

I'm not sure this will help you, since Barnard doesn't give merit -based aid, although there's no harm in trying. You might have better luck showing them better packages other schools gave you and/or pointing out unusual aspects of your situation, that might shed a new light on the numbers( if applicable). Best of luck and congrats on being chosen as a centennial scholar.

Have you checked into outside scholarships? Any outside scholarships you receive are applied to the money you have to pay first...

I would definitely talk to the Financial Aid Office. Barnard meets 100% of need, so if their calculation of your EFC is that far off, there may be an error. On the whole, our financial aid office is very nice and wants to do their best to make sure everyone can afford a Barnard education.
