CFA vs CPA

I know that these two degrees are fairly different, but in general, which one would you say opens more doors for someone who wants to work in corporate finance and try and move up the ladder into various management roles?

Also, can you sit for the CFA with a degree in accounting, because I'm pretty sure that you can't sit for the CPA without having a degree in accounting? Just in general, would corporate finance positions be available for accounting majors?

CPA depends on your state, in fact, most states don’t require a degree in accounting. I know for a fact that NY requires 120 hours of study with around a 1/2 of it in accounting but the degree can be in anything

Get both of them.

Having a CPA first will open more doors for you. If the job requires a CFA, then you can study for it. Passing all levels of a CFA test will not make you a chartered CFA, you also need 4 years of relevant experience.

experience is sometimes more important than designation

Moot point, it’s not like you quit working as you pursue the certs.
