I take the CFA next friday, I have a week and a day. What things should I do to prepare, I dont mean physical training, I mean like what should i eat? resting from physical training? Any tips would be helpful thanks. Also its almost been a month since DODMERB tests, hopefully they come back good.

I'd work out up 'til a day before, but that's me.

no matter what anyone has to tell you, it all comes down to you, your habits, and what you feel is best. i know that sounds useless, but 'tis true.

For recondo, they brought in 2 different people to talk about what to do, and in Basic we had dieticians and nurse practioners talk to us about what to eat before physical tests, and they all told us different things. My suggestion is, eat a banana, and don't drink milk :D

And, most importantly, don't stress out. You know what you can do...focus on that! :)

thanks guys, I know I can do it lol. I better not drink milk, Im lactose entollerant. XD How long does DODmerb take for results

Couple of weeks for the DODMERB results.

As for the CFA, I reccommend doing a practice run first. See what it is like. On the real thing, you should push yourself to do your very best.

Just my two cents:

Eat some spaghetti or other type of pasta two days before the test. Don't do too much physical activity the day before the test. The day before, do a SMALL excercise if you so desire, but you should be prepared for the next day. No cereal for breakfast the day of, have a sandwich or something. Eat a decent lunch, but don't gorge yourself either. Finally, DON'T stress about it! You'll do fine on the test, and if you don't, you can retake it.

I'd suggest doing really good on the pull-ups, push-ups, sit-ups, and the run. Each of those is on the PFT or is part of the AFT, so the reviewing committee can easily relate to those. I don't know what kind of shape you are in, but if you can, I'd suggest 9+ pullups, 50+ pushups, and 65+ situps. That said, don't disregard the basketball throw and shuttle run, but I don't think they are weighed as heavily (9.9 shuttle and 54ft basketball, both well below the average for my year).

Last year, I was able to do 8 pullups, 59 pushups, and 60 situps, if I remember correctly.

Do your best on the run and shoot for below 7:00.

I would have someone with me with a stop watch and run through the CFA as you will take it twice. Just like a dress rehearsal. Do you know where you will take the CFA? Is it, say, in your high school's gym? My son had some trouble because he trained for the run on an outdoor track - 4 times around and he could easily pace himself. When he did the CFA, they had to change locations and he wound up in an old YMCA gym, and had to run around the gym 22 times to make a mile. Very hard to pace that.

I definitely suggest doing a practice run. Also, try not to run your mile in the rain! I did that, no fun!

I did 70 push ups and 65 sit ups last night 2 min for each. I did 18 pull ups last year for that Presidents fitness test, but i didn't have to go all the way down. I can get like 8 pull ups all the way down. I ran the shuttle run in 9 flat yesterday. I ran then mile 7 flat yesterday, this is all practice on my own. Its been almost a month since DODMERB, still says missing.

Yeah, DODMERB has a tendency to do that. My dad called every two days, and it still took them about three weeks to get everything processed. And we live in the Springs and the stuff didn't even have to leave the area code (I did remedials up at the hospital here).
p.s. for any 2012ers- launched our rocket and missed by 30 meters(the engine didn't eject). Plus it was raining.

We missed by over 50m! The thing went straight up and we missed by a LONG distance, but I'm pretty sure we set a record for time aloft (10.17 seconds!)

I think my groups rocket was the best my year at 6 meters.

you mean it flew 6 meters total?! hahaha ;)

the rail we had ours on was crooked, so it almost crashed into the parade stands

75, baby! lol

you zoomies crack me up... cfa stuff straight to rocketry.

are you allowed to wear weight training gloves during the pull up? what about an mp3 during the run?

I'm pretty sure gloves and mp3 player are a no. If you want to use some chalk, go for it, but don't use gloves. I think the deal was that you can't have any external pace keeper except a watch. An mp3 falls under that category unfortunately.

Both of those are not allowed.

Ours was 70 meters away, and our rail was crooked too... almost a disaster! We had 11 seconds aloft though!

:'(
Should I call DoD?
