Hrm. I would apply CMU. Why? It has a greater amount of funds to help subsidize your education, as opposed to NYU, who slammed me with ... a lot of loans (hence, I'm not going.)

Too bad they don't have an ED-II option at either of the schools. Now that would rock, in case you didn't get in one, ED-II the other.

CMU has a ED II, but it's only a couple of days after ED I, (around 15?). How would I know if the ED I school accepted me or not before I apply ED II?

Plus I thought we can ED only one school? regardless of ED I or ED II

Check out: RPI, SUNY-Stony Brook, Union College(NY), WPI,
All of these are good match schools with great CS departments.

CMU's CS department is their most difficult and the toughest to get admitted to. It may be as difficult or more difficult than MIT, simply because of the workload.

Can i get more opinions on whether I can get into CMU/NYU or not? and have someone answer my above question regarding ED?

Munkee, ED decisions come out by December. If you want to take the chance and apply NYU ED then hope to receive a response ASAP, then be my guest.

If not...

I was just responding to what you said:

"Too bad they don't have an ED-II option at either of the schools. Now that would rock, in case you didn't get in one, ED-II the other."

I wasn't aware that you could do ED to two schools.

Well, here's the catch: you cannot do BOTH UNLESS you receive a rejection from NYU first. If NYU gives you a deferral or a rejection, then you are clear from your ED obligation and thus, you are not obligated to go under the ED contract.

You cannot apply to CMU ED-II without knowing the response from NYU.
