Chance a desperate Asian!

I'm currently a Junior from Nebraska... I'm international, so I know that shoots me down a lot but... I'm just trying to get an idea of what I should do to boost my chances of even being able to attend college in the next two years so... here goes...

What sort of immigration status are you on exactly? If you are a green card holder then you are for all intents and purposes considered as American. If not, do you need financial aid?

Woah now let’s put down some safeties.

Well, safeties are schools in my state and the neighboring one. ISU and UNL. If all else fails, Creighton University.

I’m H-4, not green card so… yeah, I hope colleges give me financial aid… :frowning: This is why I’m freaking out…

ouch, that may mean you are considered international student?

That REALLY SUCKS FOR THOSE TOPS COLLEGEs U LISTED

You have strong stats, but as an international needing aid, you can’t count on any of those schools. And unless you can afford to be full pay at your ‘safeties’, you ave no US safeties. Bottom line–add some schools in your home country.

I have no chance at any home countries. I’ve in the US for 8 years and I don’t have the language necessary to attend a home country school. Are you saying I can’t even attend those safeties I listed? I have better stats than most though (applying to those schools)! Can’t I do campus jobs or merit-based financial aid? Or, do they really discriminate that much? :frowning: Help!

Which safety school are you refering to? WashU? UChicago? If i’m not mistaken, they are ranked top 20 in USA. No domestic applicant uses a top 20 school as a safety so i doubt you, as an int’l student, can as well. If you are taking about ISU and UNL, then you need to consider the over-qualification problem.

Over 50% of the stuff here is estimated. I don’t even see how anybody can chance you.

Wait, the over-qualification problem? There is a problem with over-qualification??? :O

Your numbers are strong. Hence your safety schools will know that you are applying to the top-tier schools like Pton/MIT etc. The safety schools will probably waitlist you since they are aware that you are not going to accept their offer unless in desperate situation

Uh-oh… so what would be ideal safety colleges then? Crap, I thought I’d have no problem with ISU and UNL…

good job @ getting into harvard lulzzz
