Hooks:
Im not sure if this will be a hook, but im from an indigenous tribe in Borneo, and a minority group in Malaysia. Didn't grow up in a city, and had a different growing up experience from some of you guys here. i received a government scholarship to study abroad in a foreign country four years ago, and fortunately was exposed to the idea of US education.

Weakness:
- probably my SAT1. my reading and writing are terrible. takin again in december, but i have some doubts on improving my scores.
- dont really have much awards in the academic field, like the many science olympiad winners i've seen on CC.

not really sure where i stand. so hoping to get some opinions and suggestions from you all. and if you have suggestions on how i can improve my application, do let me know too!

thanks!

Do you need financial aid?

im still discussing with my parents about my financial support for college. if there is no other alternative, i probably will opt for financial aid - probably 30-50% financial aid. wad are my chances if i opt for financial aid? and wad are my chances if i dont? :)

thanks!

Well, Vassar is admits students on a need-blind basis, as in they don’t look at financial resources as a factor in admission. However, I don’t know if that policy extends to international applicants.

Otherwise, you have a solid chance! Good luck!

The need blind policy does NOT extend to international applicants. I know cause I’m one too :). Vassar only admits about 50 international applicants with aid a year. On their website it says thats a 7-8% acceptance rate/ Your chances are much higher if you don’t apply for FA/ However if you really need it, apply, theres no use getting in if you cant afford it.

Also, their average SAT for accepted students is 2110 so you’re in pretty good shape. Also, your subject tests are way above average, I believe.

Good luck! Hope we both get in. I visited and I loved it.

mattsaysfierce:

i see. i think they do not extend it to international applicants. :frowning: but still i ll give it a shot! thanks!

gapyearstudent:

wow 50 international applicants with aid is pretty a lot, considering that its a lac with small freshmen intake. i think i should probably work harder to improve my SAT above average so i ll have a better shot. thanks! :)

Wait I just had a ‘doh’ moment. Sorry, I have no idea but its more like 20-30 I think but different websites report different numbers so I have no idea either. Your best bet would be to email them.
