EMORY UNIVERSITY (1st PRIORITY) (Emory Scholars Program???)
UGA
Duke University
WashU St. Louis
Johns Hopkins
U Miami
Georgia Tech
East Carolina University

THANK YOU

AND I WILL CHANCE YOU BACK IN RETURN, I PROMISE

UMiami is a good match ... possible partial merit scholarship

Get the SAT up and you have a realistic shot at every single one of your schools above.

And when I say UP I mean 2060-2150

especially if you take the SAT again and raise your scores a little bit! and/or try the ACT as well

im sure i can raise them up.
i went up 170 points in two weeks....i got 1870 in May, and 2040 in June.
Retaking in october

Get it up another 170 points and you'll be solid. LOL

thanks man! i'll try. at least to 2150

I think if you do that you'll be attending Emory...if you keep the grades up.

EMORY UNIVERSITY: Reach (because of SAT)
UGA: Safety
Duke University: Reach (because of SAT)
WashU St. Loui: Reach (because of SAT)
Johns Hopkins: Reach (because of SAT)
U Miami: Match
Georgia Tech: Match
East Carolina University: Safety

Bring up those scores for Emory, Duke, WashU, JHU, Georgia Tech. Then you should be really good. Try to aim for a 1400.

Good luck!

Emory - Low Reach
UGA - In
Duke University - High Reach
WashU St. Louis - High Reach
Johns Hopkins - Reach
U Miami - In
Georgia Tech - In
East Carolina University - In

Colombia eh? The one Latin American country that has stood by the US, with some of the nicest people, who we have a great relationship with, and Democrats have to mess it up by opposing this trade deal...

My opinion, for whatever its worth:

EMORY UNIVERSITY - Low Reach
UGA - Safety
Duke University - Reach
WashU St. Louis - Reach
Johns Hopkins - Reach
U Miami - Low Match
Georgia Tech - Match
East Carolina University - Never heard of it. Safety?

I agree with the above posters that the SAT is a bit low. Otherwise, it's a great application. If those were upped a bit I think any of those schools would be reasonable.

^If you feel like chancing me back.

Emory - Low Reach
UGA - In
Duke University - High Reach
WashU St. Louis - High Reach
Johns Hopkins - Reach
U Miami - In
Georgia Tech - In
East Carolina University - In

^I agree with this. Try taking the SAT, some students do better at it.

"I agree with this. Try taking the SAT, some students do better at it."

I think you mean the ACT. Which probably would help because it doesn't have the vocabulary the SAT has.

Yeah, I meant ACT, sorry.

any more insight?

Basically the only thing holding you back from more selective schools is standarized test grades... get 'em up and you can go anywhere you want

<a href="http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/529515-another-asian-male-looking-ivies.html%5B/url%5D">http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/529515-another-asian-male-looking-ivies.html</a></p>

thanks. what do u consider competitive scores?

2250? or more....cuz im not sure i can bring them up so much

The usual standards for ivies and comparable schools like most of your reaches is 2200+. Can you chance me?

<a href="http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/530168-chance-ivy-hopeful-rising-junior.html%5B/url%5D">http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/530168-chance-ivy-hopeful-rising-junior.html</a></p>

I agree about the ACT. You should definitely take that. I have a friend who did well on the SAT (low 2200s) but OWNED the ACT (35s and 36s on every section but algebra. He studied up on the algebra and expects a 35 total).

In general: Excellent GPA, excellent rank and strong courseload. URM status is a great bonus. Your SATs are a little low. If you are able to raise them to 2150+ then of your more difficult schools (Emory, WashU, Duke, Hopkins) you should get into most of them. If Emory offers ED, I'd really encourage you to go ahead and do that. That would add a boost to your already very strong chances, as I believe Emory is an interest-sensitive school. Duke would still be a reach, but a real possibility. As it stands now, Duke is still a possibility, but not very likely due to SAT scores.

Anyway, I think you'll be firmly in the top half of Emory's applicant pile, and I think you have really strong chances. With an improved SAT score you have excellent chances.

Also, with regard to SAT scores, you'd need a 2250+, maybe higher, to make you competitive at HYPMS and probably Brown, Columbia, UPenn as well. But private schools in the tier of selectivity just below the ivys, a 2150 might not improve your chances any, but it wouldn't hurt them very much either. I'd say if you get your score up to 1400\1600 (CR and M only) then you've got really, really strong chances at all your reach schools, and even at 1350\1600, they're all possibilities.
