I do not know how homeschool uw gpa works out compared to the VA school system.

I would say 560 on each from the SAT score of 1120 and no weighted course (AP/IB)would not be strong.

If you have courses that you have taken, such as, CC classes and your course curriculum is filled with APUSH, APENGL, APPHYS then it would be a different answer.

UW of 3.8 means actually very little, because it does not show your curriculum. Re post your 4 yrs of home school. How many PE, Art and Computers credits are you getting? A 3.8 uw is different, for 4 yrs of arts than 4 yrs of Foreign Language, Math , Science, History, Psychology, Sociology.

Again repost with your home school curriculum and your intended major.

FWIW OOS VA is probably the easiest admittance for OOS. Most VA residents will try for UVA or VT, both on the same par as UMDCP, but no OOS tuition issue.

My son was homeschooled for 10 years. He had no problem getting accepted to College Park (however his SAT scores were higher). One thing I did (acting as the guidance counselor) was prepare a rather lengthy description of all course work completed in high school. You might also want to consider taking an AP class. We found PA Homeschoolers had many AP online classes to choose from. Overall, I felt almost all of the schools he applied to were rather enthusiastic about homeschoolers.

Virginia has “Virtual Virginia” through which you can take online AP classes. DS took AP Physics through that program since his HS didn’t offer the AP version. Very tough class, btw.

I appreciate the replies all. I understand that it’s probably tough to chance a homeschooled student because homeschooling still isn’t really a known or accepted thing among most people aside from colleges.

I got into Penn State University Park and the University of Alabama last fall but decided to take a year off to work and pursue missionary opportunities. I’m applying to schools close to home for spring UM, GMU, GW, but am excited to finally going off to school for spring semester.

My last question is because it would be spring semester, would it be possible to get on-campus housing if I apply for it by November? (This of course is if I am to be accepted.)
