Hi,
I attend one of the top 5 private high schools in the country and although we don't rank, I'd say that I'm somewhere around the 20th percentile in a grade with almost 200 students. I've taken the most rigorous course load possible in all classes, and although that means no AP scores yet, I am taking several this year and expect 4's or 5's on all of them. Our IVY/MIT percentage varies from 20-33% in any given year (though a lot of it is due to where people ultimately decide to attend.

My 9-11 GPA is 3.68, and my 10-11 GPA is 3.72, so there's not too much variation there.

SAT: 2380 (800 CR/800 M/780 W)
ACT: 36 Composite (36 R/36 M/36 S/35 W/12 Essay)
SAT 2's: Chemistry (800), Biology (800), World History (780)

Sports: Varsity Tennis (we have one of the best programs in the country, and the best in the state.

EC's: Numerous clubs (4), VP of 1, President of 1. Working a job 10 hours/week.

Essays: Excellent

REC's: Will be excellent most likely, not sure yet.

Hooks: URM (African-American and double legacy at Princeton)

Cornell
Wash U
Northwestern
Johns Hopkins
Vanderbilt
Williams
USC

I didn’t think I would ever say this: “You are pretty much in at Princeton”.

You are black/URM, have an almost perfect SAT, go to an excellent private school and have two 800’s on your SAT II’s. I think you are basically in.

Princeton: High match (double legacy + URM)
Columbia: Reach
MIT: Reach
Yale: Reach
Dartmouth: High match
WUSTL: High match
NWU: High match
JHU: Match/High match
Vanderbilt: High match
Williams: Match/High match
USC: Match
UMI: Safety
NYU: Low match
BC: Low match

Your GPA is a little low so that’s the only wild card, but here are my guesses:

Princeton: In
Columbia: High match
MIT: High match
Yale: High match
Dartmouth: Match
Cornell: Match
Wash U: Low match
Northwestern: Low match/Match
Johns Hopkins: Low match
Vanderbilt: Low match
Williams: Match
USC: Safety

Btw, Catria is hyping up the difficulty of getting accepted IMO. The OP would probably be in the highest percentile of applicants that Vanderbilt admits, so how can it be a “high” match?!
