Edit:

Justification to engarde's post before "editing" expires:

1) 3.3 GPA is pretty darn low.
I agree but it's def. a 4.0 UW in Public

2) How do you know that you've made USAMO in 12th grade? You can't even have taken the AIME for this year yet!
I got a 133.5 on AMC 12A (Self-checked), AIME I got 6 last year and I've been practicing ever since*

What do you mean by “for sure” have you actually taken it?

My increasing trends and current score show that I have the capability to get that by June, if not September :O

Honest chance.

The bad:

3.3 GPA is pretty darn low. Several of your awards are “likelies”. Not sure how many of those will actually come true.

How do you know that you’ve made USAMO in 12th grade? You can’t even have taken the AIME for this year yet!

The good:

Very good scores. Calc BC in 7th grade is pretty impressive, I think (I took it in 8th :). ECs look pretty good, especially if you can stress on the research.

I think the only thing wrong with your application is your GPA. Aside from that, everything is in pretty good shape. But, your GPA has gone quite badly wrong.

Yale and Princeton both seem to value GPA the most out of HYPMSC, so, I’m going to put you at a mid reach for those guys. Harvard will also be a mid reach, just because they have so many amazing applicants and not all their focus is on STEM applicants.

But, for MIT, Caltech and Stanford, I think the story is a little bit different. In my opinion, I think your awesome SAT II scores and good SAT I score might make up for the bad GPA. So, those would be low reaches.

Likely awards?
Most of the awards are correlated such as Intel/Siemen/BioGenius/Google Science fair.
Those depend on the judges of those competitions :o not me

THIS IS A ■■■■■. Proof:

OP is clearly a junior given that he/she is applying for RSI and MITES and has already secured recommendations.

“USAMO 11th and 12th” - The 2013 USAMO is on 04/24/2013 so there’s no way the OP could have won it in 11th grade. Also, its impossible for the OP to know that he/she won USAMO in 12th grade.
“USAPHO semifinalist… Physics Olympiad” - USAPHO and Physics Olympiad are the exact same thing. As a USAPHO semifinalist myself, I don’t think anyone could win that award without knowing what USAPHO stands for.
“2. AP Chemistry 3. AP Biology” - Why is the OP taking AP Chem and Bio if he/she already got a 5 on both AP exams?
“local Hospital by College Apps” - Doesn’t even make sense.
“9. Siemens semifinalist” - Impossible to obtain till senior year.
“very good refined 130901923x essays” - Doesn’t even make sense.

  • NO ONE submits four teacher recommendations.
“7. Computer directed” - Not a real course name.
“3. Calc AB 4” - OP is intelligent enough to get a 5 on BC Calc in 7th grade but can’t manage a 4 on AB Calc? I’m definitely not buying that.

.’. This post is a complete ■■■■■. I’m amazed that anyone even thought it was legitimate.

For the record, I know quite a few people who have earned these scores.

But yes. I agree with your ■■■■■ proof.

@hangooksaram, getting a 5 on BC Calc in 7th grade is no small task. I personally know two people who did it and both of them were exceptionally gifted math prodigies (both made USAMO every year of HS). If you have that kind of intelligence, there’s no reason you should be earning a 4 on AB Calc (unless you took it in 3rd grade or something).

^Oops, didn’t read the “7th grade part” lol ..
(Side note - my friend didn’t work hard for AB, but did for BC, explaining the difference in scores.)
k i’m done concerning myself with this ■■■■■ business -______-;; do trolls have no lives or something.

It seemed like obvious ■■■■■ to me. OP if you’re not trolling by some off-chance, you honestly need to stop being so pretentious >_<.

“USAMO 11th and 12th” - The 2013 USAMO is on 04/24/2013 so there’s no way the OP could have won it in 11th grade. Also, its impossible for the OP to know that he/she won USAMO in 12th grade.

Like I said I got a 131.5 on AMC 12 A so I think I can manage a 7 on AIME. I meant to say “QUALIFY” not win and go to MOSP, but two years ago we had someone attended the IMO :PPP Chinese ofc

“USAPHO semifinalist… Physics Olympiad” - USAPHO and Physics Olympiad are the exact same thing. As a USAPHO semifinalist myself, I don’t think anyone could win that award without knowing what USAPHO stands for.

Sorry I forgot to clarify. University of ______ Physics olympiad event

“2. AP Chemistry 3. AP Biology” - Why is the OP taking AP Chem and Bio if he/she already got a 5 on both AP exams?

School does not have any other science class and is making me sit. Not even joking.

“local Hospital by College Apps” - Doesn’t even make sense.

Clarify… Sorry for the misunderstanding. Volunteer at St.___ Hospital at Radiology for about 100 hours total by College Applications

“9. Siemens semifinalist” - Impossible to obtain till senior year.

Which means I hope to do RSI or research internship…

“very good refined 130901923x essays” - Doesn’t even make sense.

  • NO ONE submits four teacher recommendations.

Certain teachers do not want me to submit to every school. Especially when I’m applying to almost 20 colleges.

“7. Computer directed” - Not a real course name.

Actually it is. Computer Directed studies 0.5 credits at my school, I’m doing a program with an online academy (i.e. EPGY or etc) or iOS Development

“3. Calc AB 4” - OP is intelligent enough to get a 5 on BC Calc in 7th grade but can’t manage a 4 on AB Calc? I’m definitely not buying that.

I got a 4 on AP Calc AB, sadly. I have picture prove

Can you guys just chance me? I honestly have all these credentials

@ hangooksaram & Petersuu, I actually have a nice social life because almost in my school knows me <1000 students and I’m one of the top Math&Science kids in my school (Top 5 probably? From 9-12th grade). We have a quite high % of Ivy League acceptance rate and Liberal Arts school (top 10 ones).

On the side note, can I have a honest chance? I feel like everybody think I’m a ■■■■■, I do not even have the time to argue. I have 3 tests tomorrow loool and it’s 12:12am

For the record, if you guys think I’m impossible I guess I’m doing something unique…

I have a really interesting life…
I actually took Pre-Calculus H in 5th grade which TOOK a long process with the superintendent of the district because

  1. I was only 11 (or 12) at the time
  2. The only open class was at like 7:10am (stupid block schedule) and Elementary was at 8:30 am
  3. I got an A in the class which bumped me up AP Calculus BC

About recommendation letters:

1 Professor, he taught me Differential equations, Biomathematics, Advanced Engineer Analaysis

2 Professor, I took mathematical statistics learning order of stats, test of hypothesis and etc. I also took his research&production Statistics class which taught us which us a little harder than Level 1 College stats (Probably like Level 2 of MIT’s Statistics, which is a lot harder)

3 Just my high school adviser so he’ll write me a good letter. He went to one of the schools in the top 10

Clubs:

  1. I actually founded Science club (discontinued my freshmen year) and created
Science Olympiad, Physics Olympiad, Science Bowl, and etc. and made myself captain of every competition we attend
  2. FTC - I come from a school that funds our robotics program really well so we don’t need sponsorship from local companies.
  3. The club creation process of our school is easy:

1 find a teacher

2 get 20 signature (most of which are fake/friends/forged and etc.)

3 Get approval from the school administration (usually accept)

@FateGoneAwry16, Grats on CMU… I have a friend who got in ED. and a couple of others who are currently enrolling

Honestly you just proved my point with that last post. I’m going to stop now.

Oh and i usually don’t make threads on CC because I only look up threads for information on

  1. Scholarship opportunities
  2. Summer Programs enrichment (Found out SIMR and a couple others through this)
  3. Some chance threads of colleges I like

ANYWAYS … Oh shoot I forgot to add the fact that I have 64 College credits at local University. Every class I took gave 4 credit hours. If I remembered correctly,

I got 4 from BC, 8 for Chem, 4 for Bio , took like 10 math-college courses… GPA at college is kind of terrible though because of a few reasons (3.2 :o but I had a couple nice 4.0s in Senior 400 level ones)

I took 1 class per semester since 8th grade (after taking AP Calculus BC). I took Multivariable+Stats in 8th grade then attended the a college-credit summer program of the school (but actually I failed those two, haha I withdrew but colleges will never know). Then I sent in a couple of AP tests and I got a few credits there. Anyways,

CAN SOMEONE PLEASE CHANCE ME FOR QUESTBRIDGE.

It’s not so much about the universities because I can’t afford most of them without some sort of aid/merit.

I attend private under a merit/financial scholarship. I pay for books/supplies only. As for college courses, my parents and I work to chip in $ (about 3000$ per semester ><)

LAST POST BEFORE I STOP POSTING TONIGHT…

High school GPA DOES not include my college GPA.

Oh ._. frick I made a typo. I meant 131.5 AMC

With a couple of these assumptions you could “possibly” find what school I attend:

1) My year of JHU CTY winners if you have the brochure, we did not have more than 30 top of the world scorers
2) I mentioned IMO qualifier two years…Eliminating a LOT of schools
3) Oh and more…

Compared to my friends who have started local non-profit organizations/a small company…For college apps but actually have a valid portfolio of tasks they have accomplished

I would say my resume is not exceptionally outstanding in quality but in quantity (if you think so)

lol wow I’m so stupid. I made a calculation error on my AMC score without noticing… I went back to my booklet and check with AOPS again

21 * 6 + 4 blanked * 1.5 = 132*

This is embarrassing haha

A couple of comments, Alpha:

1) When chancing on CC, which is in itself difficult to do, only list the things you DO have at the moment. leave out all the “likely” stuff and the stuff that hasnt come out yet since that just confuses the chancer (even if u do have an excellent shot - forgive me for being stupid, but we cant all take BC in 8th grade)

2) dont be president/captain of like 10+ clubs just for college apps, and worse, don’t forge or make up people. dont start a club unless youre really interested in it and really love it. colleges tend to see through that.

3) dont you give others any chances in your school? Honestly…people wonder how you’re able to fit all of those activities in your schedule, and do them well (hopefully)

That said, i think u are already comfortable with your chances. u have an idea. just trust that. it’s probably more accurate than any of us can predict since u are the best judge of urself. and congrats on all of the legit fabulous awards! especially with the USAMO and such… very nice.

1) earlier actually 7th grade :)

But thanks! I’ve won awards in my science, robotics and math club. For UNICEF, we obtained a letter for of thanks for donating money to them. Well the reason is because robotics has 3 club presidents, math has two and I founded science/UNICEF and engineering. I consider myself a STEM focused kid

bump :open_mouth: 10 character rule

biggest bs ever. like wow.
