Chance a medically challenged girl for University of Washington and University of Minnesota

Gender: Female
Race: Asian (Chinese)
Household income: 350K+
First generation: No.

GPA currently: 3.5 unweighted and 3.58 weighted (first ever AP class this year)
ACT: 21 (not retaking and was told last second I had no extended time)
SAT: 1170 (also not retaking due to chronic pain finally catching up to me)
9th grade: 3.2
10th grade: 3.68
11th grade: 3.62

Taking two sciences this year. AP Biology and Anatomy & Physiology ("&" is one class still).

I was 2nd in the high school table tennis state championships.
I do art commissions and have won several online art contests.
I draw in my spare time and also make anatomy and neuroscience flashcards for fun.

My adversities: 17 surgeries in lifetime (two during high school), physically disabled, partial hearing loss, adoption, neglected as an infant causing brain damage possibly, and ADHD, and autism. I also have one rare condition (1/42,000) that causes my physical disability. I miss school often due to medical appointments.

And my essay is on how my two rare conditions, 17 surgeries, and such sparked my interest in medicine and anatomy.

I congratulate you on your perseverance and fine accomplishments.

Are you instate for either?
You will want to find a university that will support you and assist you with your health challenges.
You may decide to postpone with gap year or go part-time. You will have a very unique college journey and any college that has resources to work with you will be blessed.
Good luck and best wishes for good health.

It is unclear to me whether or not UW or UMN will meet your needs.
Have you contacted the Disabilities Services Office at UW ? Do so anyway if you haven’t yet.

“The University of Washington is committed to providing access and reasonable accommodation in its services, programs, activities, education and employment for individuals with disabilities. To request disability accommodation in the application process, contact the Disability Services Office at least ten days in advance at: 206.543.6450/V, 206.543.6452/TTY, 206.685.7264 (FAX), or dso@u.washington.edu.”

Or at UMN ?

I am in-state for UMN. And I have not asked either yet.

Just looking at stats, UW is a reach, but they are holistic. However, even bigger reach for out of state.
Contact admissions counselors at UMN- by ethnicity, high school, or major.
