native america and republican p-e-r-f-e-c-t-o!

Your SAT score will significantly hurt your chances, retake it as soon as possible.

drop the spanish/key/young gov club stuff, the admissions counselors wont glance at it for more than a second, emphasize your eagle scout, political involvement and the fact that you are an american indian.

^^ Uh? Don’t drop anything from an app. o0

its all about the essays, if you are trying to make being NA your “hook” then it needs to be more than just a checked box. Use your essays to show that you are more than another kid at a top school.

use August to work on the ACT…buy the red book and practice. for one son…equivalent scores…other son…superior on the ACT format…who knows…you won’t know how they affect you till you try.
if you are in a top high school, where are your SATIIs and current AP scores?

There is absolutely no reason to stop testing now. My sons made big strides in fall of senior year on testing…but they did the at home method of personal effort to prepare…on this website put xiggi method in Search and see his approach to SAT prep…The Real SATs or the red book on the real ACTs should be getting your full attention in August. If you haven’t taken SATIIs at this point, I might try for the ACT as some colleges accept their subtests as equivalent for subject test information…you can test as late as December in most colleges for regular decision…don’t avoid this issue.

I also agree that club memberships in high school are nice but don’t signify much unless you can write about them in a meaningful way…and essays are very important. as editor of the paper…you have much to draw on.

increase SAT scores. 2100 and over is optimal for getting in. 2300s for scholarship.

Even though you’re a minority, I would still say your chances aren’t that great with your SAT and GPA.

You also need more ECs. Currently the only thing that stands out to be right now is the Eagle Scout thing.

So work on retaking the SAT, try taking the ACT, and get more ECs.
